PRANA VEGAN RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Arequipa

Don't expect anything mind-blowing. The menu of the day would likely be a good option but is only available after 2pm so beware of this. The seitan "meat" I had in a sandwich was kind of chewy and soft, not the best seitan I've had. Value for money however, check. The portion was sizeable and enough to keep you going for a while. If I was to be critical of the sandwich I ate (which is really a burger but that's a trend I've noticed across peru, not necessarily a restaurant problem) it was lacking onion and some sort of limey- acidity just to make it less "weighty". I did get a selection of 4 sauces with my food, although they had nothing spicy (like at all). All in all a perfectly ok "vegan" restaurant (despite having cheese and other dairy on the menu 🙄). I wish I had only tried the menu of the day but ah well. I wouldn't come back because it's nothing new, but I wouldn't advice anyone to stay away, maybe other menu items are more...

Sorry, but can't give that place any more stars!

To start off with: the service was the absolute worst i have ever experienced! The waitress had absolutely ZERO motivation to work, nor did she want to inform us about the daily menu nor was she in any way kind or friendly, let alone welcoming towards our group of four.

The daily menu/the dishes arrived nearly all at the same time without us having finished the previous course (that is starter, main course and dessert were at the table and the main dish was already getting cold).

The starter (potatoes) was alright, the main dish (some kind of vegan 'bistek') was totally not edible (my boyfriend did and regretted it shortly afterwards). The dessert slimy with passion fruit (I guess).

Do not waste your time&money in this restaurant, as there are definitely better (vegan/vegetarian) places offering delicious Peruvian cuisine, where the chefs also know how to present their food...

As with several of the reviewers below, I’ve made more than one trip here. Day 1 was lunch and I went for the “buffet” platter. I chose the “juicy steak”, papas a la huancaina, arroz chaufa, pumpkin soup and the vegan taquenos. My daughter went for the crunchy KFC wrap. We both left stuffed, happy, and with the ganas to return. Day 2 I came back early for a coffee and the WiFi to get a little work done before they opened for lunch. Meal choice was chicharron Ariquipeño with sweet potato chips and yellow potatoes, accompanied by the traditional “salsa de cebolla”. Again a huge portion and easily as savory as my buffet Day 1. I wish I had time to try so many more of the options, but feel I got a good survey of the key items.
