I have visited several dozen cafes in Lima, especially those who roast their own coffee beans as I am in coffee roasting business. I was interested in experiencing Peruvian coffee as they have many regions that grow coffee beans. I was hoping that I would find many cafes with great coffee especially those who source and roast their own coffee beans.
I was wrong and very disappointed!!
One after another they all have a great story an efforts that they are making to source their coffee beans. However perhaps it's the roasting or the brewing process, none of the cafes we're serving great coffee and definitely not a unique experience. UNTIL, I walked into this little tiny punto Cafe in Miraflores.
First of all they had different selections of beans to choose from for v60 coffee. I was also surprised to find that all three that they offered where Geisha bean variety which I like. And the price was very reasonable unlike another cafe who was charging 30 soles for Geisha V60 cup of coffee which they didn't even brew correctly.
Here at punto Cafe, a barista who was a young lady and spoke great English, did a great job of brewing my cup of coffee. Needless to say I tried 4 different cups of coffee and each time she did a great job!! And she was willing to adjust the bean grinding size as I have requested without taking offense or getting annoyed. Unlike the 30soles a cup coffee shop that I visited the day before in Barranco where the barista said absolutely not and was very annoyed almost angry about what I was requesting. I would definitely go back and if u are into specialty coffee this is the place to go. You don't need to go to other cafes where really all the coffee tastes the same, typical burt/bitter or sour...
