EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OF CALEA

I recently visited Calea with my family to celebrate my in-law's birthday, and I must say that our experience was extremely disappointing, primarily due to the abysmal customer service we encountered. The behavior of the servers left much to be desired, as they were consistently rude and inattentive throughout our visit.

Upon our arrival, we noticed that the restaurant was crowded, but there were a few vacant tables and extra chairs available. Considering we had a baby in our group, along with two seniors, we kindly approached one of the staff members and asked if we could borrow some of the extra chairs. To our surprise, the response we received was, "Hindi na pwede kay gina gamit pa nila," which translates to "No, because they're still using them." It was evident that the chairs were not in use, and this response seemed unfounded and lacking any willingness to accommodate our needs.

Subsequently, we had to wait until other tables became available, and it took a considerable amount of time before we were finally seated. However, this was not the end of our disappointment. Throughout our time at Calea, we overheard servers engaging in negative conversations about previous customers. Laughing at and mocking customers is not only unprofessional but also completely unacceptable.

Furthermore, it was evident that the staff was in a rush to close the establishment. They began clearing chairs and displaying an attitude that made it clear they wanted the remaining customers to leave. This made us feel unwelcome and as though we were being rushed to finish our meal, despite the fact that there were still a few customers present.

In summary, my family and I had an unpleasant experience at Calea due to the extremely rude and unprofessional behavior of the servers. It's supposed to be a happy celebration but their staff ruined it. Their lack of attentiveness, refusal to accommodate a simple request, and the negative conversations we overheard all contributed to our disappointment. As customers, we expect a certain level of respect and courtesy, which unfortunately was sorely lacking during our visit. We hope that Calea takes this feedback seriously and implements the necessary changes to improve their customer...

We cannot let a good dessert shop down, so even if my post will be just one of the thousands of reviews here, a five-star rating is very well deserved.

We tried the Chocolate Ice Cream Cake / Mudpie during our first day in the city, and yes, it was nothing short of AMAZING. The price of the cake—130 pesos ONLY.

On our last night in Bacolod, we wanted to indulge and try more, so we got their Dark Chocolate Cake, and their White Chocolate Cheesecake. The Dark Chocolate Cake had the right sweetness, but it was a little dry and the bread crumbles as you stick a fork into it. The Cheesecake however, was a different story because it was moist, creamy, and tangy with just the right sweetness. They also provided some strawberry jam to cut the richness of the cake. The big catch—the chocolate cake was just 100 pesos per slice, while the cheesecake, 115 pesos per slice.

I can't help but wonder why and how the can produce at that level of quality and taste while keeping the price low! Their cakes were at max 150 pesos per slice! Come to Manila and take all my money, lol.

For a side note: At 8:30pm, Calea was very much alive with cake patrons and tourists, while their adjacent competitors C's Coffee Cakes and Chocolates and Felicia's had no one inside their cake shops. I was reminded of what my friend said before traveling to Bacolod—we have been eating Calea's cakes since time immemorial, and whenever it is a family member's birthday, we would always get a whole cake from Calea: not from Goldilocks, not from Red Ribbon, not from any other shop. Only Calea.

Never ever miss this shop when you travel to Bacolod, because it is more than just a cake. It is a surreal experience of...

My recent dine-in experience at Calea was very unpleasant due to the rude behavior of one of their staff members. We visited Calea for coffee and pastries around 1:00 PM this weekend. Upon entering, we were immediately assisted by a staff member who took our order smoothly. We found our own table, which was fine.

However, the experience took a turn for the worse due to the unhelpful and rude behavior of one of the servers. As our coffee was taking a long time to be served and we were almost done with the pastries, I called the attention of a server who walked by our table. I said, "Excuse me." Before I could say another word, she replied, "Wait lang," and walked away without stopping or asking what I needed. I hoped she would come back once she was available, but she never did.

I chose not to name the server to avoid embarrassing her, but her co-workers would likely know who she is. They even mentioned they would report it to the owner.

Honest Review: The cafe lacks a supervisor or manager to whom you can give feedback. I was told to speak to the cashier, but the cashier is not in a position to coach or correct the staff.

I am providing this feedback in hopes that Calea's owners/management will consider coaching or re-training their staff on proper customer service. Calea is visited by many tourists, both local and foreign, for your quality cakes. If there’s anything to improve, it’s the quality of your...

Calea in Bacolod City is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. This haven for cake lovers offers a wide variety of delectable treats that will have you wishing they had branches everywhere. Their menu boasts two main categories: regular cakes and ice cream cakes, both equally tempting and delicious. During my visit, I decided to try their bestsellers: the Imported Chocolate Cake (regular) and the Mud Pie Cake (ice cream cake). The Imported Chocolate Cake was rich and decadent, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a generous layer of chocolate ganache. The Mud Pie Cake was a revelation, featuring a creamy coffee ice cream base topped with a crunchy Oreo crust—a perfect combination of textures and flavors! Calea offers a comfortable ambiance, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your sweet treats. Their staff are quick, friendly, and attentive, offering complimentary service water and ensuring your experience is nothing short of delightful. There is even no service charge (take note Bohol). The only downside? Calea's limited availability. Unlike my long-time favorite, Sans Rival, which has expanded to other locations, Calea remains a Bacolod exclusive. Hopefully, that will change soon!

Ilonggos would say never leave Bacolod without tasting Calea. This is also included in the list shared to me of must-try’s in Bacolod. I have attempted twice to enter however the place ia always jam-packed with people no matter what time of day. I already surrendered to the idea of just doing a take out and eat the slice of cake in my hotel room with a plastic fork (pathetic!). Alas, on a rainy Monday at almost 8pm, I saw a seat for 2 available so I decided to just dine in. My fruity cheesecake was served on a take out box but with a metal fork! Using a plastic fork on a delicious cake like this would really be an insult! The fruity cheesecake was something I have not tasted before. It was so creamy and they never scrimped on the fruit ingredients- cherries on top and bits of fruits folded in the inside! And the price! ₱100 for a slice! This is truly a steal! No wonder Calea should be a place not to miss! No wonder Calea is a pride of Bacolod!
