It was the site of the city's abbatoir and city veterinary office, the area has spawned into the mecca for meat based Filipino comfort food. There are two sides to it. One is the area that has its own parking lot. A row of small canteens are lined up offering grilled pork belly, bulalo, nilaga, sweet meats cooked in stews and sauces and a whole lot more. Canteens are cozy and somewhat shabby. Then there are the eateries.across.the basketball court. Its semi dark surroundings house more eateries that serve roughly the same as that of the other side's. However, you make expect a dog, cat or both, hovering near you. Food's slightly cheaper here but everyone swears it's more delicious. Ask from tinuno dipped in dara (grilled pork dipped in cooked pig's blood + vinegar). Don't forget to add more spiced vinegar and crushed chillies to the blood sauce....
