A Mealtime Nightmare: Service That's Non-Existent
The service is so bad. Food servers will ignore you and pretend they haven't seen you. The will not clean the table properly.
Disclaimer: This review is based on a single experience and does not necessarily reflect the overall quality of the establishment. I’ve dined at countless restaurants, but my recent experience here at New Good Taste was a truly disheartening one. While I’ve heard whispers of subpar service in the past, I was unprepared for the level of neglect I encountered.
From the moment we stepped in, it was clear that the staff was more interested in anything but their jobs. Servers seemed to have perfected the art of invisibility, gliding past the table with practiced nonchalance. It felt as though we were hosting a private dinner party, complete with phantom waiters.
The food, when it eventually arrived, was decent enough, but it was the service, or rather, the lack thereof, that truly left a bitter taste.
One can only speculate as to the reasons for this appalling behavior. Perhaps the staff is underpaid and overworked, leading to a demoralized workforce. Or maybe management has created a culture of complacency, where lackluster performance is tolerated. Whatever the cause, the result is a dining experience that is nothing short of insulting.
It’s a shame, really. Good food deserves to be complemented by good service. Good Taste has the potential to be a good establishment, but until they address the glaring issues with their staff, I would strongly advise diners to look elsewhere.
I urge the management to take this review seriously and implement changes to ensure that customers are treated with the respect and attention...
Read moreThe first time was on April 15. I went down to the take-out area to order, but one of the staff rudely told me, "Sa taas na Ang Take out." Because of the way she said it, I decided not to get anything. Why be rude?
Now, it happened again.
Around 8:30 PM today, I arrived at Good Taste CM Baguio to order take-out for dinner. And for heaven's sake, no one was managing the queue or informing customers where to line up for take-out. Then one of the staff told me to transfer to another cashier named Noemi. All the customers behind me were accommodated—except me. I stood in front of her for about 10 to 15 minutes. I asked her politely, “Matagal pa po ba?” and she replied with a snappy tone, “Wait lang, ma'am. Kukuha lang ng take-out card.”
What’s frustrating is that I was already standing in front of her, yet she didn’t even bother to inform me that my take-out would take one hour. If she had, I wouldn’t have wasted my time just standing there. I’m tired too—I’ve been working in the food and beverage industry for almost 10 years, and I’m an HRM graduate. I would never treat any guest that way.
I am well aware that Good Taste is a fast-paced restaurant—I’ve known that since I was a child. I know the food usually takes time. But what about informing the guests as soon as possible? What about telling them early on, while they're standing in front of you, so they can decide whether to wait or not? And most importantly, what about simply not being rude? Right? I just hope that the next time I crave your food and visit again, something will have...
Read moreAnyone who visits Baguio would also drop by Good Taste Restaurant for lunch or dinner or late meals, it's becoming a tradition for tourists. A chinese / family-style cooking, not the usual fast food or expensive meal you try when traveling. I would recommend Birds Nest Soup to prepare your appetite, Chopseuy for the freshest vegetables, Beef Ampalaya and Beef Broccoli for a little bittersweet palate cleanser, Steamed Shrimp, Shanghai, and Calamares for additional pika-pika, Sinigang is also delicious! You can try their buttered chicken but it's nothing special, more like ketchup chicken. Each meal is served in small or family serving sizes, good portion sizes for sharing. It's cheaper compared to other restaurants around Baguio area. Affordable and sulit! Just be patient with their staff because they serve close to a hundred tables and everyone wants something, busing out tables, delivering the orders. Also, be extra patient with the long waiting list because it's really jam packed during meal times, peak months and holidays. They have a small bakeshop on the side so you can munch on a few pastries while waiting...
