Cabalen — Restaurant in Cebu City

I think this place can be turned around if management retrain staff and modify its menu. As per my latest experience its really bad. Food: -Very limited choice. -Food taste not acceptable -The soup had gone cold to the point the oil had hardened. -Minatamis na saging was cooked from 2-3 days ago (it was hard). You will know this if you cook at home. -Questionable drinks due to no labels and not even cold it was almost room temp. -Ice barely filled -Baby cockroach found in the ice. (Please do not let this happen again) -Lechon kawali was mostly fat -Watermelon was so pale and almost look like honey dew. -Salad station barely filled. Staff: I only see one male staff working. He was doing the front of the house, cleaning, refilling while the other staff were chit chatting on the side. The store manager/supervisor needs to be fired as soon as possible due to neglect of duty and lack of leadership.

I am pretty sure the store owner of this place wants to provide a good Filipino food experience. However, the current set up is really incompatible and needs overhaul. This review is in no way to be defamatory to the store but rather an accurate dining experience. The aim of the feedback is to provide constructive criticsm to improve service.

Cabalen Restaurant is an eat all you can, eat all you want located inside in SM CITY in front entrance of the Mall. The place is so nice since the restaurant is quite big enough to accomodate the Diners even though there is still a distance of 2Meters for every costumer due to restrictions of Covid. You can bring your family to Dine with you. The fee is only P328. It's really exciting to Dine in Cabalen since you can eat all you can & eat all you want. After Dining you can roam around the SM CITY where you can find a lot of displayed items for sale in different store. It's a very big Mall this SM CITY. You can buy everything what is your desire to buy like Cellpones, Clothings, Shoes, Electronics, Household Utensils, Pets like small puppies, & fish. Enjoy visiting the SM CITY with your family. If you have a car there's a big space of Parking Area & it can accomodate about 100 cars or more. Still there's a protocol for protections of Covid-19 awareness, to wear face mask & face shield. This sector has been hit with the lockdowns and we're glad they are still around! Offering the renown Capampangan (Luzon) culinary here in the south, they are among the wide dining choices anyone here in Cebu can try. I was probably expecting a lot since my last experience was before the pandemic in their Glorietta 2 location and it was great. The staff here were giving their best and observing the sanitizing/cleanliness protocols but the food can be better. Not much choices is understandable in recovering from the lost business especially from one of the most affordable buffet in town, but the "yumminess" did took some toll.
