I've been eating Raamen (legit Raamen from Japan) since 1995 so please take my word for it. I have probably been to most, if not all Raamen restaurants here in Cebu and I can say that despite the fact that they are newly opened, it was one of the best raamens I've had in a long time. Ofcourse, everybody has their own preference/s with regards to the thickness of the noodles, the thickness of the broth, the soup base (whether it's shoyu, shio, tonkotsu, etc) but if you were to compare it with the other well-known raamen restaurants that exist within the city, I would highly say that Dotonbori Raamen is in a competitive level and I'm sure they will keep on leveling up in the next few months/years. I was with a group of my Japanese friends when we went who are all strict critiques just like me when it comes to Japanese food here (especially Raamen) and not to exaggerate, they all mentioned that the taste of the raamen at Dotonbori which they ordered reminded them of their home, Japan. Not to mention their side dishes of the karaage, gyoza, and especially their Ebi Chahan(shrimp fried rice) were all my favorite. All the staffs were smiley and friendly. I found the place unique and fancy. Whether you plan to go eat alone or with a group of family members or friends, you have nothing to worry about since they are spacious. But overall out of 5 stars, I give it a full 10. All the best to Dotonbori Raamen and see you again...
Read moreGiven that this shop is located in Cebu which have limited ingredients, I wanted to give this place a full 5 stars for the presentation and the taste of the ramen lunch set which included 3 pieces of gyoza and 2 pieces chicken. The soup is pretty impressive . Full solid flavors w a right size of tender tonkatsu and garnish. Gyoza was abit less commendable as the skin easily broke . The contents is nevertheless chewy and balanced. Chicken is the right delicious color and saltiness. But... The servers were multitasking a lot. Assembling pieces of furnitures, sweeping the floor and worst, grinding vegetables on the floor at the front of the shop !!! These apparent efficiencies are unsanitary and uncomfortable to watch. How often these servers wash their hands properly before the task of bringing dishes to the customers is a question i dare not raise lest incurring the ire of the staff. The fingers touched the rim of bowls and plates ( no disposable gloves). And the kitchen reveals unmask and uncapped cooks walking around. Ergo : good taste marred by haphazard sanitary standards is a pain to experience. I certainly hope it improves. Hence i...
Read moreFood didn’t really have an exquisite taste, shoyu ramen tastes kind of bland but their karaage and gyoza are good considering the price. But what bothers me is how the crew treated us, we were there for a quick lunch and didn’t really have the time to dress up, crew were OBVIOUSLY judging us thinking we cannot pay for the food. We asked for some additional glass with ice but didn’t give us and completely forgot. Didn’t helped us when we moved tables even if they saw us. Handed the bill in an unprofessional manner. We paid for a service charge but didn’t get to experience full of their service. I guess you really have to dress up nice for them to treat...
