If I could rate the service in this place less than zero I would! Absolutely shocking especially by the fact that they charge an automatic 5% service charge for what I am honestly not sure. We ordered 3 smoothie bowls and they all came at such different times that the first person was finished before the second person got theirs and second finished before 3rd got theirs. Waitress asked us did we want service water which we said yes and she never brought it instead was behind the counter chatting to the other staff. When the smoothie bowls came after about 40 minutes we were expecting great things but unfortunately not. The smoothie art was somewhat luke warm and their was scrappings of toppings. considering rhe price being charged it is honestly not value for money at all. When we then went to pay we only had 1000 pesos as this is all the ATM gives and they made us wait over 10 minutes while they were trying to find change for us, then once the change was dropped we got no form of apology for the wait from staff at alm Honestly some of the rudest staff we have come about and how they can get away with charging a service tip for the service they are providing is disgusting to say the least. There was also kids baiting each other right beside our table and no member of staff asked them to move away. Honestly the biggest tourist trap on the island. its as if because they have the service charge they feel they don't need to put in any effort. Aesthetically the food looked really good but other than this this place is only grand. Based on the service and the food size portion this place could be described as nothing more than a tourist trap and would advise not to go here as there are lots a way better options...
Read moreNice enough food but service is some of the worst we’ve had. Waited just over 30 minutes for my food while my girlfriends didn’t arrive. After 15 minutes we alerted the staff her food hadn’t arrived and a few panicked looks and minutes later, a slap dash meal was presented to her which was missing ingredients as well as containing bacon after we stated she was a vegetarian at the very start! (Also have just seen another review when this happened to another veggie) The staff apologised for the mistake (despite knowing it was wrong as they read our order back to us when we ordered) and said they’d remake the bagel. My girlfriend agreed and then after a moment realised they were probably just going to rearrange the bagel that had already had meat in, so she went to the kitchen herself and that’s exactly what was happening, so in the end reordered a totally different meal to what she wanted and ordered in the first place.
We waited again for the new order which in fairness came after a good time, but it’s a real shame that wasn’t the case in the first place. This all could have been avoided.
Overall, we were there for almost 2 hours after seeking a quick brunch after a long travel morning. It’s bad enough we had to pay for this meal but to add insult to injury, we were even made to pay a service charge when we paid the bill!!!
We noticed that a lot of other people were unhappy with incorrect orders for coffee and food, as well as waiting times, so the vibe was off in the cafe. We also felt very packed in, there’s a lot of tables in a small area so perhaps they have more going on than they can handle. It’s a shame because the front of house staff seem nice so it could be a...
Read moreI had the most incredible breakfast at Bawud. From the moment I walked in the cafe had a welcoming vibe, the staff were so friendly and kind and the interior of the cafe was beautiful.
I ordered the smoothie bowl, the vodka pasta and to drink had the Himalayan Salt coffee and the strawberry matcha.
Dietaries: they have gluten free options for most meals which is so fantastic especially in Philippines! You can get the pancakes gluten free and all of the pasta dishes. They also have both oat and almond milk. Multiple vegan and vego options clearly marked on menu.
Interior: plenty of seating areas by the front to do some people watching, or in the back more quiet if you wanted to work. They have wifi available too!
Food: the food was delicious, freshly prepared, flavourful and large portions. I was so stuck on what to choose as everything looked amazing.
Drinks: if you’ve had salt coffee in Vietnam the Himalayan salt coffee is exactly that, to die for! They make their matcha with proper culinary grade matcha and a bamboo whisk so it tastes amazing and if you do strawberry they whip it up with thickened cream and strawberry puree!! 🍓
They’re open all day so highly recommend popping in for breakfast...
