American Backyard — Restaurant in Davao City

Honest review of this newly Opened restaurant, arrived around 5:30 pm and we were quickly seated at our table their server took our orders and we got their

Buffalo Wings(400), USDA Ribeye which is advertised 850 in their Facebook page but in their actual menu it's 900 and we wanted it to be medium well. Onion Rings (150) Paramesan Cheese wheel pasta (550) And Coke for our drinks.

The server repeated our order and I'm pretty sure that she was able to mention everything as she recapped our order.

First to arrive was the buffalo wings which had good taste but the portion was really small 3pcs of drumlette and 3pcs of small wings, then the presentation with the little greens on the plate it was Bad. (See photo attached)

Next to arrive was the Steak we wanted our steak to be done Medium well but the steak we had was Rare to mid Rare which is a bit disappointing since we expected this place to do well on steaks but apparently not. We also noticed other tables Returning their ordered steaks to be re done in the kitchen.

Then the Onion rings came and the waiter said the order was complete We wondered how this was complete when there were still missing pasta and our drinks.

Now as we were waiting for our drinks to be served and the pasta about 5 mins had passed we followed up the missing orders 😞

Then they said we didn't have those orders during the initial taking of orders so by this time we were having a bad time due to the servers incompetence.

The Pamasen Cheese order is a decent pasta it's the show and presentation that you are paying for since they will prepare it table side But it lacks Protein any kind of protein would really complete the dish besides the Mushroom and cheese.

We also chose this place since it was also advertised on their Facebook Page that they accept debit/credit cards for payment but when we came to the place they only accepted Cash another terrible advertising, they should tell their Customers upfront that their machine is not working.

Our Total bill was around 2,200 Food was 5/10 in terms of portion, presentation, taste (since we liked our steaks done medium well but served us a rare one)

For the place, We'd give it a solid 9/10 they had a total of 11 tables a nice vibe and music

For service we'd give it a 3/10 -missed out on orders they weren't even apologetic about the mistake (accountability is always highly appreciated) we expected to pay using a card because nowadays we live in a cashless economy

Overall experience? was it worth the price? Definitely not, you can take your 2,000 and up budget elsewhere where they can do you guys a...

I have done a lot of reviews in and around Davao and have wanted to check this place out for sometime. I have been interested because it has a lot of good reviews for the food but a lot of medium to very bad reviews also for various things. Ok let's start.. I went mid week after the lunchtime rush so it was very quiet.. . The place is interesting... Its nice... But there is something missing... The something that gets the place together to make it cosy.. I don't know what was missing... But for me it just needed that something. So let's talk about the food. We had onion rings, squid ring and the buffalo wing... All were very very tasty and presented lovely. The sauces they came with were also delicious. For the main we had the 4 cheese burger, the garlic burger and the fried chicken on pancakes with fruits... Again the presentation was fabulous as was the taste.... And for the size... Massive... These are really enough for two each dish. The food was well above my expectations based on some of the reviews. Truly the food was well presented and tasty.. cost for 7 of us was around the P4,800. Ok not cheap by any stretch... But we were all full very very full. The time for the food to be prepared was not quick... However we were not in a rush.... Maybe customers have to understand that food like this has to be prepared and presented.. and this does take time.. so if your in a rush... Maybe better eat else where. Service was good.. but I know there have been a lot of complaints in the reviews for this.. for us there on this day all was good. Have to agree with one comment on the floor... The shinny floor tiles ... Where not the best idea as they do get very slippy!! Overall had a very pleasant time... Final note.. the toilet was clean and had lots of tissue. Thanks to the staff for a nice time.. and final final note to owner.. maybe you just need to address some of the complaints as the food is well above average for Davao... Sorry final final final note to owner... The menu.. posh it up with high quality images of the food ... As your food sure deserves that.. so.. update the TV images with good photos and high resolution... .. just saying :).. great food deserves...

I’ve read from some reviews that American Backyard can be a hit or miss when it comes to their food. For our first visit, we tried their signature burger, vongole, and four cheese pizza. The burger was okay. The beef patty was juicy but the bun was too big to bite into. Their lovely sauce was dripping everywhere that I wasn’t able to enjoy the experience of eating it. The four cheese pizza was very good. Amount of cheese was just enough and we loved how it was a little creamy. The vongole pasta, however, made us really disappointed. This was the first vongole pasta we disliked. And to think we paid 500 for one order and we couldn’t even finish half of it. It was clear they used canned clams, or worse stale clams, because there were no shells and the clam meat looked dark and minced. It didn’t taste anything like vongole. They should consider removing it from the menu. Prices are a bit steep considering it’s not something that’s worth it. Customer service could be improved since only the female waitress looked friendly and accommodating. The rest of the guys didn’t look like they were glad to see us....
