Aulson's Café — Restaurant in Davao City

First time to visit this cafe in the heart of the city. Its location is not that familiar to a lot of people so we had to check it out a day prior our event/birthday bash-reunion of ex-colleagues. It is along a busy thoroughfare but not known for restaurants. The coffee place/resto is quite small - maybe just 6 tables but they have a number of function rooms you can avail for small parties, gatherings, meetings, reunions and huddles. Since I was an hour early for our event at 7PM, I went to the coffee shop and ordered Hazel Latte while waiting. Good but I had to wait for a while until I followed-up. Price is value for money as with their plated meals ranging from P150-P180. We're booked at"Gentleness" Function Room. It's fully air-conditioned, with a restroom a few steps outside which was so convenient. Food was tasty and just enough to fill-in your tummy. Didn't had the chance to taste their cakes - maybe next time. This establishment looks like an "old house" reconstructed as a resto with function rooms. It's quite away from the main road so you could not see it at once, but the signage outside helps.There's a nice garden here with wooden benches outside so ambiance is cozy and homey. Parking infront tends to get full easily but there's additional parking space in a vacant lot adjacent to it. Waitstaff are warm and accommodating, very friendly. Not familiar with the story of this place but it seem to be an old house that was converted into a restaurant and coffee shop, with an extended exterior fabricated in metal and sheets creating an overall modern and industrial design which is very dynamic. The rooms in the old house were converted into private rooms wich are very conducive for meetings, seminars and conference, either with small or big groups. Despite all the improvements made to the place, nothing can compensate for an average service, small serving and pricey meals.

The food portions are really small for sharing and not really tasty, not to mention that it was quite pricey. I only had one photo of our order because we were really famished when the dishes were served. The waiter that was assigned to our room keeps forgetting our requests that one of us had to assist him to help him out. If there is another thing that I can praise other than their nice interiors, it would be the presence of multiple comfort rooms and hand washing stations.

After we left, no single dish was memorable or can be recommended. We left and never returned. Despite that, I wish to return though to try their coffee and cakes. That might be a reason for a comeback. Scroll for the menu and their...

◘ PLACE : The place offers different functions rooms depending on the number of pax you reserve. Their rate is affordable and consumable (isn’t that amazing!!). Room plus food is a great deal. Rooms have a maximum pax capacity (10 pax, 15 pax, 20 pax, 25 pax and 30 pax). A great place for intimate parties and meetings. The place is also instagrammable – great for pictorials (even their comfort rooms). They have good lighting.

◘ FOOD : The menu is of good variety – you can choose from pork, chicken, beef, pasta, sandwiches, salads and a lot more. They offer platter meals which are good for sharing and they are sure delicious. They also offer different kind of drinks (coffee, milkshakes, teas, smoothies, frappes and coolers).
