Malayah Hostel – General Luna, Siargao

After spending two peaceful nights at DormitelsPH, we transferred to Malayah Hostel. Since it's located right in the heart of the party area of Siargao, expect it to be noisy until around midnight because there’s a resto-bar right below the hostel. But if you’re someone who loves the nightlife, this location is perfect. There are plenty of food spots nearby too, including affordable options, which is super convenient.

Now for the room—honestly, we didn’t quite get what we expected. The photos on Agoda looked bright and lively, but our actual room was a bit dim, lacked a towel rack, and didn’t feel as fresh or airy. Water pressure was weak, the flush and bidet weren't working properly, and there was even a faint smell of something like a dead rat, which wasn’t pleasant. We decided not to complain though since we were out most of the time anyway.

Location-wise, it’s really great if you want to stay close to the action, but the room itself was just okay. Maybe we just got unlucky with the specific room we stayed in because the others might be better. The staff were friendly, which we appreciated.

Would we stay here again? Surprisingly, yes! In fact, we already booked a return stay—this time for the Barkada Room instead of a couple's room. We're hoping that one will be better. We’re giving it another shot because of the location, which is really the best part of...

First of all, the features in the website were way different from the actual place.Wifi was terrible, cellphone signal was also terrible Power was interrupted most of the time.And in our second night, the power was completely gone due to transformer issue and was never fixed.We arrived from our trip at 06:00 AM. We noticed only generator was working without wifi. We stayed up to 08:00 PM. The generator was completely off and no power at all. We decided to stayed at the coffee shop until late night hoping everything will go back to normal when we return.We came back at 10:00 PM. Still no power and one of the in charge told us the situation.And she said, they been looking to us to advise if we want to switch some place.We did not receive a call from them and nobody nock our door until 08:00 PM. While we’re inside.We decided to switch place and ask for the rest of the payment. Unfortunately, they will not provide for a lot of reasons.We been arguing until 12:00 midnight just to come up with the solution which is very difficult for them to sort out.The management should improve...

Only the location is good. And that good location means they get all kinds of guests...my experience was really bad I thought of just leaving behind my payment and stay somewhere else. 12 beds to a room and they don't manage the guests and the rules of hostel stay. Foreign and local guests were unmindful of others, talking loudly, using phones without headsets, and over all just being uncourteous. The bathroom being shared by guests means they just leave underwear and toiletries all over the place.

The owner must make very good money to care about having guests understand...
