Madge Cafe has been a beloved establishment in Iloilo City since 1940, renowned for its unique coffee brewing techniques and its rich history. When visiting, I asked the staff about their most popular coffee, and they recommended the classic Coffee and Milk. I also tried the Iced Caramel Macchiato and Iced Salted Caramel Latte. The Coffee and Milk was a delightful experience—creamy, flavorful, and perfectly hot. It’s a must-try for any first-time visitor. However, the iced coffees were a bit underwhelming and didn't quite meet my expectations. The cafe itself is charming, adorned with local customers' coffee mugs, adding a personal and community feel to the ambiance. One concern during my visit was the opening time. Despite arriving at 8:50 AM, the cafe, which is supposed to open at 9 AM, wasn't ready even by 9:10 AM. The staff were still preparing the shop, and it was only after I asked that they allowed us to wait inside. Punctuality is crucial, especially for a business frequented by tourists, and this delay was disappointing. Overall, I recommend visiting Madge Cafe to experience their signature Coffee and Milk and to enjoy the unique, local atmosphere. While it may not be a place I’d visit every time I’m in town, it's certainly worth a stop for its historical charm and standout traditional coffee.

It was great to see them preparing coffee the traditional way, it was definitely a refreshing experience. The staff were polite and attentive, which added to the overall charm of the place. While waiting, I enjoyed reading the inspiring quotes posted on the wall and taking in their unique decor. Since it was my first time, I asked for their best seller and that’s what I ordered. Maybe that’s one of the reasons they’ve become well-known and lasted this long: their coffee has a unique taste that seems like it’s made from a recipe only they have. There was a distinct flavor I couldn’t quite identify. To be honest, it wasn’t exactly my kind of coffee, based on my personal taste. But I still finished it, and I appreciate the experience. On my next visit to Iloilo, I’m definitely going to try another blend from their menu to compare.

To end our trip in Iloilo City, we decided to have lunch at Madge Cafe, and it turned out to be a great choice. We started with their traditionally made coffee and it was excellent. I had the coffee and milk, which had just the right balance of richness and flavor. It was the kind of coffee that makes you slow down and savor the moment. For lunch, we tried the Sinigang na Baboy and it was absolutely flavorful. What’s even better is that they also have pasalubong items from Trappist Monastery available, which made it easy for us to grab some unique treats to take home. The cafe itself has a lovely, rustic charm. ang unique ng chandeliers!! If you’re in Iloilo City, I’d definitely recommend checking out Madge Cafe. It’s a great spot for a relaxing meal or coffee break, and it’s worth the short taxi ride from SM City.
