I visited this restaurant on Good Friday as a tourist and was excited to find a place offering shabu. The food was excellent, and the service throughout the meal was impressiveโup until it was time to pay.
My total bill came to 5,090 pesos. I handed over 6,000 pesos in cash, and the waiter returned only 410 pesos in a small basket. They had done a great job, so I initially told them to keep the change as a tip. However, something felt off, and out of confusion regarding the short change, I politely asked for the receipt again.
Thatโs when things took a turn. The waiter suddenly pretended to find a folded 500-peso bill on the floor and tried to hand it to me, as if it had somehow been dropped. At that point, I asked for all of my change to be returnedโbecause I believe anyone attempting to steal does not deserve a tip.
