Where to even start with this place.... I visited last night after seeing it pop up in google search saying that it was one of the best restaurants in the area.... that turned out to be a lie. The food was mediocre, but what else can you expect when ordering Mexican food in the Philippines. However, I was still going to leave it a decent review until the bill came. We ended up having 2 beers each and a few of their combos, but once the bill came we noticed that the bill had extra beers listed on the receipt that we didn't order nor consume. We told the waitress who literally served us the entire meal and she looked at us as if we were dumb and said you did order all of that. Long story short, she lied to us in our faces and over charged us. I can't imagine how many others they do this to on a daily basis. If she was hurting that bad and really needed a few bucks extra, she could've asked and to be fair the tip we were going to leave would've been more! Very dishonest business and I would never recommend it to anyone!

I forgot to take photos of the food 'cause I was really hungry. Lol! But the food was AMAZING! No wonder it's famous around Poblacion for a mexican food fix. Totally loved the Gonzo Chicken Adobo & Fried Eggs! 🔥 so tasty, I can really taste the garlic in that Adobo. Their serving is also large, I was really hungry when the food came but I still wasn't able to finish all of it. We also tried their Grilled Boneless Chicken, and I love it! I usually dont order chicken cause there's a high chance that it would be bland, but that chicken is so flavorful and well-seasoned. 😋 Their quesadillas and enchiladas are good too. Was not able to try everything as I was already too full, but worth going back for. 😊 We also tried cocktails, and I think my favorite is their signature, La Chupadita. Almost finished 2 of those. 🤭 we didnt like the Sangria, but the Amaretto sour is nice too. 👌🏼 Will definitely come back and try others on the menu. 💯

Hmmmmm....i have my reservations about this place. It popped up saying it was the best mexican food....BUT I'm mexican & the food was not authentic. Their dish came w 2 tacos (normal dishes come w 3), no red rice or beans of any sort, the tortillas were too thick (not positive on the corn used, it looked gray almost), the carne asada was good (kudos!), the salsa was not salsa, more like Texas hot sauce w lime juice (seems like).... and one (salsa atomica) was chile de arbol w a creamy base ->mayo? Sour cream? Maybe? ....Anywho, real salsa does not have either and it's made fresh daily w real fresh chile (make a note ☝️). Agua Fresca de mango was really good, I will give 'em that. For non-mexican palates this place may win good comments but not from a person from a "taco-mecca" (a US/Mexico border city) the food was lacklustre. Just being honest. 🤷‍♀️ oh and "La Chupadita" is Spanish slang for something other than food!! 😁🤪😂😂😂

Go to El Chups to satisfy your Mexian Mexican food cravings! I was in the mood for horchatta and they delivered! Order just a drink, or order a full meal and then some, it's okay!

Seating is limited, so they may be a wait especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It's dark as well so you may have difficulty reading the menu, but it definitely sets the ambience if you're out on a date. If you're part of a large group, it's better to choose the outdoor seats so that there's more space and you can hear each other better.

Serving times are quick, you don't have to wait long before stuffing your face, which is good if you're really hangry.

The waiters are attentive, they don't hover, but it's easy to catch their attention if you want to bill out or add an order, but they're dressed too casually, you may hesitate because you may accidentally mistake a customer for a waiter. Yes, their shirts have the El Chupacabra branding to identify them, but it's a black tshirt with small print, it's easy to make that mistake.

All in all, love the food, love the flavor. This should be an essential part of...

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food then I don't think it's for you. If you like fusion then you can go for it.

I ordered four tacos, two carne asada, one al pastor, and one fish taco. The carne asada tasted like Filipino tapa, not carne asada. The al pastor tasted like tocino and the fish tacos we're okay, I guess.

I was really hoping for some authentic Mexican food tonight but this didn't hit the spot. The horchata was also just okay. It lacked enough cinnamon that really gives horchata its life.

Service was good however! The waiters were pretty attentive and helpful with my needs.

I would come here if I was drunk in Pobla and really needing a taco to fill the drunken needs. However, to give it constructive criticism — it's not authentic enough for me to go back when sober.

It's tasty, however. It has a sense of umami but it does not take Mexican.

Please go ahead if you enjoy fusion. However before you go, try to think about coming here if you like authentic Mexican food because you won't find it here.

PS. Prices are good and the tacos are pretty filling so bonus...

Ambience If you like warm weather or watching people walk by, outside is fine with the occasional breeze. The place is loyal to its theme and nicely decorated inside out. Do feel free to walk in further where they have air-conditioning, more tables, and a restroom with genitalia signs that took me 5 seconds to decipher. Should I be ashamed or proud about that? LOL! The air-conditioned area is more friendly for dating because the location feels more intimate and romantic. Lighting is a big factor here too.

Horchata I was asking about the flavor to expect because I only knew that it came from rice. The server guaranteed it was good and recommended it as a bestseller, though he still didn't describe the flavor. :) He was right; it was good! It was my first time to try this cinnamon-flavored beverage and I'm happy with the size as well!

Chili Con Carne & Tortilla Chips It's a good partner for beer aside from having the usual peanut and potato chip "pulutan." I think they should give more tortilla because they give a lot of delicious dip.

VAT-inclusive, 10%...
