Wendy's - PGH Taft — Restaurant in Manila

About a year ago, I wished Wendy's would make the move to own the healthy snacks niché in PH's highly competitive fast food industry.

I thought the sector's biggest players have not been as sensitive or imaginative enough to offer less unhealthy meals - despite the pandemic which has highlighted the importance of a healthy lifestyle among the people.

These giants have stuck to serving the same unhealthy stuff that have fattened their accounts over the years at the expense of their captive customers, offering deep-fried chicken, chicken nuggets, burger, fries, softdrinks and floats, and sweet spaghetti.

And so I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Wendy's recently, and saw that they had on their menu not just 1, but at least 4 different kinds of vegetable salads. Apple waldorf salad has been one of my favorites since then.

Good place to wait while nearby establishments have yet to open. Dining area on the 2nd floor while the 1st floor has a few seats for Grab and others waiting for their takeouts. I'm surprised they serve Filipino tapa dish as part of the breakfast menu. Tried the usual chicken and rice meal set, pleased that they gave me 2 pieces of the gravy sauce and that the chicken skin was crispy, probably because it's freshly cooked at breakfast time. They serve coke and sprite sodas (sarsi wasn't available yet when I visited) and their blend of ice tea with a hint of calamnsi. Aircon was just right. Common restroom was clean. Area has hand soap and hand dryer. If you want somewhere comfy to dine in the morning, this is an option. Limited parking of 2 slots if you're driving, so most people swing by walking. Wendy's consistently delivers on its promise of quality fast food, but what truly sets this location apart is the exceptional service. The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

While Wendy's is renowned for its juicy burgers, I was particularly impressed with their salad options. The fresh, crisp lettuce, combined with a variety of toppings and dressings, offered a lighter and healthier alternative to the usual fast-food fare.
