Escobar's Steakhouse — Restaurant in Parañaque

We were so looking forward to eating at this place. Especially with all the glowing reviews on blogs and vlogs about it. Unfortunately, our experience today proved once again to NEVER, ever believe these so-called foodie "influencers". First of all, the service was not good at all, considering that there were at least 4 front of house and waiting staff present. They showed us to a table that was dirty. It took 5 minutes at least before someone gave us a menu but only because we asked for 1. After giving it, they left us without saying anything. So after around 5 minutes of looking over the menu, we called over a waiter to order. And since there were no descriptions of the menu items and the pictures were severely lacking, we asked about the Meat Overload only to be told that it wasn't available. Then the waiter continued to tell us which of the menu items were NOT available. More than half were not available. At this point, my husband and I were getting pissed so my husband said "dapat sinabi nyo agad pagkaupo pa lang namin na madaming items na wala." And the waiter replied "Mabilis po kasi maubos. Lalo na pag gabi." Take note, we were there for lunch. So illogical.

If we weren't so hungry, we would have just walked out. But we decided to stay and give the food a chance. Big mistake. We both ordered the porterhouse with rice. My husband got the sunny side eggs for a side dish. I did not get anything because they had no salad. Again. Salad na nga lang e.

So the food arrived. And of course they brought the eggs first. I'm guessing so that it would have time to congeal on the plate while we waited for the steaks. And right on time as the eggs congealed, the steaks arrived, cooked to the point of leathery toughness with minimal seasoning (because "what is flavor?" seems to be their corporate motto) and served with a watery gravy that tasted like uncooked flour. The only redeeming item on the plate was the rice. I'm not kidding.

In case you think that this is where I end my review, definitely not. Service was really bad. We had to ask for utensils and extra glasses with ice for our soda. Which took about 5 minutes. Mind you, the venue had seating for about 30 people (about half full at the time we were there) and it took that long to get utensils. I'm guessing it was to allow the steak to reach the point of true leathery toughness.

Would I recommend this place? Not at all. Would I go back to give them another chance? Maybe. But only after at least 6 months have passed because I'm hoping that by then they will have gotten their act together so that the service and food is a lot better. Hoping. With toes and...

Went to escobar's aguirre in BF on their grand opening day last april 13, 2024, around 7pm and stayed there until 10 or 10:30.

Food was great. Thick juicy steak slices🥩. Steaks were served warm on our tables and we decided ti eat it immediateley (no photos taken, sorry). Sausages were flavorful and meaty. We liked the truffle pasta as well. I dint really enjoy mashed potatoes so i would usually skip that but my wife insisted. And i actually liked the mashed potatoes..🥔 it had some pieces of potatoes still in there and it wasnt too creamy for my preferences. If you guys enjoy mash potatoes that are not too buttery or not too creamy and still has some pieces of the actual potatoes then you gotta try their mash. You guys should really try their beers too! 🍺 Highly recommended.

Service was crazy. The owners were taking orders, delivering drinks, entertaining guests etc so i'd give it a 10/5 if i could.. let's start with parking, there were parking spaces in front but it was already full when we arrived for the opening night so the security guard assisted us in looking for parking slots. (Thank you kay kuya guard 👮‍♀️)The servers were well dressed and attentive to the incoming guests and got our orders and requests to the letter... more ice, extra cold beer, sauce on the side etc. Very very very good service. Better than wjat i would expect from a 5 year old establishment and they are only on their first day.

The atmosphere was great. It felt homey.. kinda... 🏠Great place for family and friends and steaks all coming together on one clean wooden table. It was just enough noise to have a hearty meal. Live music was playing at the time we were there. They kept the place smoke free, or at least i didnt smell like charcoal or grease after eating or when we went out the door. Good place for catching up, date night, family reunions, simpleng tambay and two botts. 👍

I was looking forward to this steakhouse as it was recommended by many, but I was just extremely disappointed with my experience.

There was only one person dining in for lunch when we got there so I expected some speed in service. The disappointment started when all our supposed orders were not available. If only we were informed beforehand of the menu not available, we would’ve saved some precious time.

Second disappointment happened when a family after we arrived got served with complete orders before us. The waiter’s reason was “theirs were easy to cook”. What’s so difficult with bacon and eggs and a piece of steak???

Third disappointment was when the steak was cooked so inconsistently. It was supposed to be medium but some parts came out even as raw. I suppose they rushed to cook the steak knowing that they prioritized cooking the orders for the wrong table.

Fourth disappointment, I mentioned the inconsistency of the steak to the waiter and the waiter didn’t mind at all. Like he didn’t know or care what I was talking about. Very nonchalant! I bothered telling him when I was finished eating because I was too disappointed already.

Lastly, they don’t accept credit or debit cards. Cash only. Maybe a fault on our part for not asking but we were only informed when we were about to pay the bill.

This is my first at Escobar’s and I’m very unhappy with the service. Will def try other Escobar’s branches, but will probably return to their BF branch after two years or so. It needs massive improvement in my opinion. So many disappointments for a...
