I chose this restaurant as our first Filipino food experience in Puerto Princessa based on the reviews and photos. Unfortunately, they were deceiving. The restaurant fell below our expectations especially my mom's who is a native Filipina. We ordered ox tail kare, chicken adobo, pork with bitter melon, stir fried vegetables and steamed rice. The dish we were most excited to try was the kare kare but the bagaong (shrimp paste) which augments the taste was pale and putrid tasting! Not sure why they would serve this.. maybe they think it tastes good or no customers have complained? I'm allergic but I trust my family's opinion on it.. so we had to ask for fish sauce instead. There wasn't tons of meat so in terms of sharing amongst 5 adults and a child, not the most generous portion. The others were decent portions.. we couldn't finish all the veg dishes. The bitter melon we ordered as good for you and because Filipino food can be quite meat heavy. However the bitter melon dish had way too much liquid in it according to my Mom. The adobo was tasty so probably the best dish along with the stir fried vegetables. Don't even recall what drinks we had..
The food was just OK, hence the rating - certainly not as good as some reviewers claim and we won't...

We ordered a main dish for two but were quite surprised by the small serving. We did ask before ordering the serving size, and we were advised that it was, but maybe we had a different idea of what is good for two. Still, the chicken adobo was tender and well seasoned. They accept cash as payment. The restaurant closes at 2pm and opens again for its evening service. There's limited parking in front of the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, it is designed to give some trivia about Puerto Princessa, which was helpful and informative. Besides us, there was only one customer inside the restaurant while wr...
Read moreI am local in Puerto Princesa City. I ordered pork sisig priced at 290 pesos which is supoosedly for 2-3 persons. The food is soaked in oil and full of pork fats and skin. There is almost no pork meat or laman loob. The worst part is it looks like reheated when ordered. For the price, I am expecting a made to order food. Would not come back again if I will have to pay for the same kind of service.
As a local, I advice tourists and foreigners to try Filipino foods inside the baywalk instead. It is near this restaurant and have fairer...
