Dined here with high expectations only to have mixed impressions.

Concerning their ambiance, the first time I saw the venue in person it made me feel uneasy, it felt like i was eating at a hotel reception rather than a buffet. It felt like they tried too hard to look premium it ended up feeling cheap. Walls and ceiling were unfinished and definitely looked like they need more work to finish or fix the issues.

I ate with with my family and we tried sitting down their round tables and the seats were too far and wide for average sized filipinos, like it was built for someone else.

We moved to a rectangle table and Chairs were too heavy and felt like they were there to increase friction in getting more food which I do not really understand in a buffet. They might've relied too heavily on premium = heavy. There was a disconnect between the place and its vibe.

Main's served during the lunch service were cold and the cooks were slow to replenish the food. While I understand the urgency, I think it was unprofessional to hear the chef scolding their cooks in front of tons of people eating.

The taste of the food overall was a mixed bag, we loved the peking duck but, the roast beef was hard to chew. We've had this a couple of times while trying to experience what they had to offer.

Loved their pasta, and Lechon kawali, fried rice. all were cooked up to standard of what you would expect for the price of nearly 1k pesos. The Chinese food served at 12pm looked and tasted very good. Their Desserts tasted great, especially the mango panacotta.

On the other hand, Their tempura, calamares, and chicharon bulaklak, were not crispy and cold. Their roast beef was hard to chew and some had litid, soups lacked taste, Seafood tasted malansa and lacked seasoning.

I would like to commend their staff roaming around and their reception staff for being very attentive and helpful during our visit. I hold them in high regard as they seem to know what they are doing.

So, with that kind of mixed bag, It is kind of hard to recommend this place at this current state and I wish they would improve these lapses to give the customers a good time.

I would give them time to improve (maybe a month or two) since I know it's their first day. But in any industry, first impressions are...

The Food Club is located at Fisher Mall in Quezon Avenue. This buffet restaurant has a wide-spread selection of dishes, from Asian dishes to some western food. There are also local appetizers available. They even have "balot" or boiled fertilized duck eggs available, which is surprising as most buffet restaurants do not carry this famous Filipino. I do like the fact that despite the price, this buffet restaurant offers Japanese dishes, especially salmon sashimi, which the one I got appears to be better than the salmon sashimi being offered in another very famous, and more pricey, buffet restaurant. Desserts vary from ice cream, salad, halo-halo and local desserts. They also have unlimited juices, soda, draft beer and coffee.

Buffet setting is quite confusing also. Although one can note the reason for the set-up, it appears to be haphazardly organized. Main dishes are located in three separate areas and not grouped together, or even grouped accordingly. Desserts are placed side by side with soup and hot dishes. Drinks are in two separate areas, with coffee being in one end of the spread, and soda and beer on the other. Plates appear to be placed in specific locations or were not replenished timely that it appears that it can only be found in specific locations. Replenishing the dish trays will also need to be improved as I found several trays empty without being refilled by staff. The same can be told with the salmon sashimi, once the original set-up has been taken by customers, they will not provide unless asked. Condiments in the Japanese section was also not regularly checked, hence, the small soy sauce container was already running low when I was about to get some.

The restaurant's interior and furnishings are fairly decent, but I still get a food court vibe mainly because of its layout, open-plan and a bit cramped. It is quite difficult to maneuver along the tables, and access in-between chairs is likely difficult.

As of July 2025, the restaurant is still in its promo stage with per person price of aroun PHP688 (regular PHP898). However, as of today also, they only accept cash as they do not have the necessary equipment for card and other...

NOTICE - As of February 18, 2025 the establishment ONLY accepts CASH payments. No credit or debit card, no e-wallet payments. I believe this is only temporary. Maybe they are still registering their other payment options. Well, the booking and walk-in could be a bit better but I would give them some slack as they are still in the "newly opened phase." Food is acceptable for a buffet and for the price, really reasonable. Just a bit sad that the dessert section was not quickly stocked when plates were empty. Their pancit was really good. However, whoever was in charge of cutting the salmon and tuna for the sashimi - well, I guess they used a chopping knife instead of a fillet knife. They cut against the grain and the presentation was somewhat "surprising." The quality of the fish was... ok. I've tasted better but definitely tasted worse. It was fresh - just not the best quality of salmon or tuna. Some of their food options and condiments were not labeled. Guess the dish might be fun for some but a bit confusing for others. The condiments section was "is this soy sauce or tempura sauce?" Yeah, again, I will be kind and chalk it up to newly opened. :) Their dine in service staff were attentive (atleast to me) and were good in removing plates that were used off my table. Billing people were polite when asking for customer details (how many pax at the table, any discount cards you will be using etc). I did not feel intruded during my meal. The kitchen staff (chefs, line cooks etc) were friendly and knowledgeable of the dishes, fortunately, and were able to answer my questions. Overall, a relatively good choice for a more affordable option for a buffet in Q.C. I will definitely see myself returning here after a few months to see their improvement.
