Modern Shang Eastwood — Restaurant in Quezon City

Modern Shang is the newly-opened restaurant in Eastwood Mall located at the 4th floor.

The ambiance is good. The resto itself is very clean and tidy. The waiters are accommodating and very responsive with requests. They are very pro-active in checking our needs.

Now about the food. We ordered the following: Xia long bao - 4.7/5 Hot and sour - 5/5 Modern soup - 4.5/5 Crispy dumplings- 4.2/5 Siomai - 4.8/5 Deep fried pork - 4/5 Orange chicken - 3.8/5 Birthday noodles - 5/5 Yang chow - 3/5

The hakaw (premium shrimp dumplings) barely contained any shrimp; the filling was overly starchy, and the flavor was dominated by sesame oil. The xiao long bao dumplings were decent. However, the hot and sour soup was overly thick, with too much black vinegar, minimal ingredients, and an overpowering flavor. The food is delicious, though I wish it tasted a bit richer with a bit more umami for the dishes in general, as the sweet and sour fish actually leaned salty. The proportions could be a bit larger as well. But it's enough on a night out with family. The music is also a bit loud, and the acoustics aren't so good for conversation, but I enjoyed it! Reena was a brilliant server, always kept our tea mugs full and chip plates...
