Gela and I recently had a hearty lunch at Nabe Japanese Izakaya and Hotpot, where they offer an affordable way to savor hotpot. The place stands out for its diverse soup options and hearty side dishes that won't break the bank.

We got the unlimited hotpot for (₱588) with the following soup bases and sides:

  1. Soup: Soy Milk Sesame Offered a subtle and light flavor, subtly enhancing the taste of our chosen protein, be it beef or pork.

  2. Soup: Tonkotsu A particular favorite of Gela, with its lightness and a hint of sweetness that added an intriguing layer of flavor to the protein.

  3. Meat: US Beef Short Plate Nothing special with the beef besides cut thin and best enjoyed cooked in your chosen soup and dip in your created sauce. Served usually in the green container.

  4. Meat: Pork Shoulder Boston Butt The pork definitely looked fresh and not overly fatty which was perfect for the both of us. Served usually in the white container.

  5. Sides: Japanese Rice & Vermicelli Served as a satisfying filler, though they didn't particularly stand out.

  6. Sides: Vegetable Platter The platter was of decent size and they also included mushrooms which is definitely a plus!

  7. Sides: Assorted Balls It was okay, but the balls tend to absorb the soup after prolonged cooking. These come chilled, but for a better texture, we recommend cooking them for a bit

  8. Sides: Crab Stick Tempura While a tad bit oily, this was definitely a good break to have from chewing our chosen protein.

  9. Hotpot Dipping Sauce Offered an array of options, including Red Chili Pepper, Scallion, Garlic, Ginger, Raw Egg, Ponzu sauce, Gomadare sauce, and Sate sauce. If you prefer your sauces on the spicier side, Gela suggests blending Sate Sauce, Soy sauce, Garlic, Scallion, and Red Chili Pepper The staff also provided Gomadare sauce to those interested, which had a creamy, nutty, and slightly sweet sesame sauce flavor profile.

In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our selection of protein, soup, and sides. For those looking to enhance their dining experience, you can opt to add (₱288) for unlimited servings of additional side dishes like karaage, gyoza, and Angus beef. Additionally, they have a promotion that offers a free soda in exchange for posting and tagging them in an Instagram story or TikTok video. We recommend Nabe Japanese Izakaya and Hotpot for a wallet-friendly and satisfying...

First time we visited Nabe Japanese and Izakaya Hotpot in Banawe. Somehow, it was good, but not really that good as to how it was promoted online. I guess I just did not like two of their food that was served. One, the special sauce. It was so salty. Even when I added broth to it. It still was salty. Even if I combined it with other food on the table, or mixed it with other side dishes. It actually ruined the other food's taste. Two, the kimchi did not really taste like kimchi. Another customer from the other table even asked the waiter if it was an old kimchi oe what. It was bland. The meat served were all okay. The teriyaki soup base is good. We ordered for Japanese rice and vermicelli but it was never served even until we were done eating. We were not even advised by the waiter if it was available or not. The miso soup was just okay. The vegetable platter was obviously a stock, as the leaves are way too dry, the carrots and corn were cut and stored and both looks old. Try slicing a carrot and leave it on your table overnight uncovered... that's what we got. The assorted balls were okay. The yakisoba tasted like the usual Pinoy pansit canton. Nothing special. Service was okay. But not all waiters were accomodating and courteous. The place is good though. Parking is good enough for a couple of cars. Guard...

We dined at Nabe Izakaya Hotpot on a Sunday night, and it was an awful experience! We arrived around 8:30 PM and saw plenty of empty tables. Despite being a party of two, it took the staff around three minutes to seat us, claiming they needed to prepare our table. Fine, we thought, we can wait.

Once seated, we only had plates set up with no menu. We waited another five minutes, expecting someone to bring us the menu, but no one did. The staff, receptionist, and manager were all chatting at the cashier station, completely ignoring us, despite the restaurant being almost empty, with only two other tables occupied in the main area. We were on the verge of leaving due to the lack of attention. Eventually, a female waiter arrived with our service water and tea. I thought she would return with the menu, but she never did.

We also noticed that new guests had to wait around five minutes to be seated. We reluctantly gave them a chance, and finally, one staff member attended to us. Our orders came quickly, but they didn't even bother to inform us that some items were unavailable until we asked. One waiter, with a sour attitude, just carelessly placed our orders on the table.

The food was mediocre at best, but the service was absolutely terrible. We are never...

We dined at Nabe Hot Pot, and the food was good. However, I didn’t like that not all of the employees were smiling. Some of them gave a bad expression when we ordered again, which was annoying. Hello, this is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and we have the right to order whatever we want as long as it’s exclusive to our order. We wanted to change our table because my girlfriend wasn’t comfortable with her seat. The staff did get us another table, they said all the tables were reserved. However, we had already finished our food and paid, but we didn’t see any customers use the table we chose. The trash can is very close to the dipping sauce station, which is very disturbing. Once we ordered, we found out that some items were missing, and the staff didn’t even inform us that our order was unavailable. If you didn’t ask them about the missing items, they wouldn’t come back to give you the missing orders or serve them, which was very annoying. We made three orders for king crab balls, but we didn’t get them until we finished eating. It was frustrating, so we left early. We didn’t even finish the 2-hour limit because the situation was so unpleasant that it ruined my appetite.

The place is in super bad condition. Had dinner here as my daughter was specifically craving for their cheese balls. This is my first time here, ever. Upon entering the resto, it smelled bad. Really bad. Parang amoy ipis/daga. Then we had to wait for our table, so we went to the CR first. One of the cr was closed. Not sure why tho. Anyway, on the way to the cr, you can see the place is in a very bad condtion. Dirty and a ton of broken stuff lying around the sides. No soap in the sink, so we requested for some. Then we were seated. Ordered our food. Lo and behold, the tempura arrived on a mouldy wooden plate (pls throw them out) this is a healthy hazard. Then the daughter went to the cr again. When she came out, she was supposed to wash her hands. Then there was the RAT!!! It ran under the sink! Kadiri! She didn't want to wash her hands anymore kasi nga may daga!!! We hurriedly ate and left the restaurant. This is the first and the last time i'm stepping foot in this resto. Food was ok. Service was ok. Ambiance and smell was really bad. Yuck! Never going back!
