The ambience of the place is good. It kinda reminds me of being in a food court tho. There are some comfy seats but the ones we’re in are metallic chairs, so they aren’t that comfortable.
The reservation was easy to book. The staff were nice enough I think, they were more neutral, not welcoming, you ask them stuff and they would hand it to you without any word or expressions.
The food was okay, nothing superb. I was disappointed with the steak station, there wasn’t a steak, they put old cold roast beef on a sizzling plate and put tons of gravy and called it “steak”. It was nothing like the videos I’ve seen on vlogs. I feel like I was lied to.
I don’t recommend the Chinese food, it was awful, there lots of bones in the sweet and sour pork and the chicken. It’s also very tough and not freshly cooked. Their dimsums are also not good.
For the Japanese corner, I liked the salmon sashimi, you have to request it since it isn’t on display. The maki are cold and the rice used were not good, it was unappetizing. The tempura wasn’t good. It was dripping with oil and was soggy.
I liked the Mexian section, the sauces were good so it made the quesadillas, nachos and texmex good. I think this is the only part that was good in my opinion.
The Italian section was just okay. The truffle pasta was good. The pizzas are meh, like normal bread with toppings.
The seafood section was okay, the baked oysters didn’t have much flavor, couldn’t even taste the oysters. The paella was just okay. The fish in the fish curry was very tough and rubbery. The cajun mix was just okay, doesn’t taste much like cajun.
The dessert section was okay, their cakes are not that good, the texture and taste is very subpar. I liked the brownies tho, they’re fudgey. The bubblegum ice cream tastes like childhood.
They also have finger foods like charcuterie options, fries, and wings. There are breads, fruits and salads too.
The drinks were great, I liked the peach tea, watermelon and minty lemon lime. They’re very refreshing.
All in all, it was an okay experience, nothing stellar, less options than Vikings but same price. Between the two, I will choose Vikings, but if there are other options, I will...
Read moreTo future customers, think twice before wanting to have a dinner here. We heard that the place is a must to try and we can see why. The large place is filled with very happy and satisfied customers.
Unfortunately, there are an equally large (or larger) number of people queuing outside, waiting to be seated. The problems are... They don't open slots for dinner reservations, only lunch. Thus, those who want to have dinner here HAVE to do walk-in and queue for hours. They don't give a time limit to seated customers in the restaurant. Normally, the buffets we go to have a time limit. However, that is not true for The Alley by Viking during their dinner hours. Thus, the queue moves super slowly just because of selfish customers who continue to talk long after they have finished eating or billing out They give "priority" to parties with elderly, PWD and children. However, this priority is an illusion from our experience. The priority moves just as fast as the normal queue. Also, if you come in a big party (like us, who came in a party of 14 people and split to 2 parties: 1 party with 10 people and 1 party with 4 people to qualify for the discounts), they will only seat those who are prioritised in the party once the queue number for prioritised people are called (which are the elderly, PWD and children. In our case, it's the party of 4 people with such people). Those in the party who are not prioritised will not be seated until their queue number for normal customers are called
All in all, their crowd management needs to be heavily improved. I'll not rate their food because my party removed ourselves from the queue as it was about to close already and we, unfortunately, couldn't have a taste of their food. Hopefully, one day, we can be one of the satisfied customers who experienced the delicacies offered, and i'll be wroting a...
Read moreWhere can I start, we tried to book and make a reservation online through their Vikings website but once you have filled out the booking form it then tells you to go and confirm your booking through their Facebook page and send a message.
An hour before our lunch booking we got a message saying "We apologize but we are fully booked we have spare reservations for dinner" I message back thanks for your late reply not good customer service.
So we were still traveling to the Alley Vikings so we thought will give it a try and do a walk in.
The lady at the door said how many people and I said 4 people and next minute they taken us to a table.
So it was easy to do a walk in than making booking online.
The Food:
The food was OK but not much food slection like Vikings restaurant in SM Mega Mall where you pay for the same price but you get more food selection.
They have a what they call a Just a Steak in a minute. Which is deceiving for people who love eating Steak.
Because I asked the guy who was serving the meat can I gave a steak then next minute he gave me a slice of roast beef with gravy on a sizzling plate.
I Said to him that is not a Steak it is roast beef. He then said sorry we have no Steak.
I Ssaid then why you guys advertising that it is a Steak Station when there is no steak.
I said it should be called "Meat Station" not good. Also the air-condition is not good because some customers were sweating so the staff had to bring in mobile air-conditioners.
They need to sort out the air-condition, the air-condition in the Mall was way better than the Alley Vikings air-condition.
To be honest I would go to the Vikings restaurant at the SM Mega Mall because you pay the same price as you do at Alley Vikings and get more...
