Papa Doms is located in a complex of several restaurant/bar establishments. I was initially attracted to the complex because of the huge lighted sign of one of the other resto/bars located there. It looked dead so I started checking around. I was approached by a couple of young ladies each promoting a different bar. I chose Papa Doms because I felt like a burger and they had one. You can choose to sit outside on the huge patio that is shared by another resto/bar or inside. I chose inside. Be advised that smoking is allowed inside. The bar was about half full inside and lots of the tables outside were also occupied. I ordered a Red Horse beer and checked out the menu, even though I knew I would likely order the burger. My beer arrived and it was nice and cold. I had looked at the menu and there were lots of good choices, but I decided on the burger. The cooks here are fast! I wasn't even finished my first beer when my burger arrived. It was delicious. The caramelized onions were perfect. The fries were crisp and tasty. They provide mayo to dip. I enjoyed every bite. My server could have been a bit more attentive. Every time I wanted another beer I had to flag him down, but to his credit, after about the third beer he got it and he started checking on me. The atmosphere is very casual. The crowd is a mixture of all ages. The music is decent and not so loud that you can't talk. They had a separate room where you could play beer pong. And this room also has a CR so if you can't wait for one of the CR's in the main bar, this is an option. I'm sure the view is spectacular, but it was cloudy the evening I was there so I wasn't able to appreciate it. As the evening progressed, the bar filled up. I was feeling a bit hungry again so I decided to order some Dyno Rolls. These are similar to the Filipino street food called Dynamite, which is a green chilli stuffed with cheese and wrapped in a lumpia wraper then deep fried. The rolls were delicious and made for excellent pulutan. My overall experience was a good one. I had a nice conversation with some Filipinos sitting at the table next to me, and they gave me a shot of their "cocktail" they were drinking. It was a fruit drink spiked with vodka, served in a jug with ice. I saw a lot of tables drinking the same thing. They drank it from shot glasses and it was tasty. Check out Papa Doms if you are staying in Tagaytay. I know I will again the next...
Read moreI didn't actually go into Papa Dom's bar. Rather, we went into another bar that was part of the entire area that was all connected. The ladies went there for a birthday celebration that they enjoyed immensely, eating a nice dinner with drinks. The men followed later & we all went to a part of the adjoined bars called “La Botteil”, or some such name. I hadn't planned on writing about it, but Google knows where I am, so... This bar was also very nice & we had a great time, with delicious pulutan & drinks aplenty, dancing to the music. The chairs were comfortable as was the sofa. I suggest it as a fun spot to enjoy yourself while consuming copious amounts of alcohol. If you don't enjoy yourself, then you are likely at fault, as you can barhop with great frequency as they are literally beside each other. Sorry that I couldn't give you more information. Oh, the toilet was clean, btw. No doubt that's not the reason you go there, but it helps. There's also a smallish men's urinal to the left, as you walk in the door (of the toilet, not the bar) so men, look for it, rather than doing your business in the toilet, as many men tend to miss, thus leaving a mess for the women. There's a sofa just outside the door, so one may rest while waiting your turn. I hope I have written enough to entice you to visit a nice watering hole. Don't...
Read moreIf you're searching for a lively spot in Tagaytay, Papa Dom's Bar and Restaurant is definitely worth checking out! When we arrived, we quickly realized we might have been a bit overdressed for the occasion—our fine dining attire stood out in a crowd that leaned towards a younger vibe.
Luckily, Abdul, our friendly waiter, swooped in to save the day! He approached us with a warm smile and instantly made us feel at ease. "You look fabulous!" he joked, which had us laughing and relieved. Who knew being overdressed could lead to such great service?
While we didn’t order food since we had just enjoyed a meal elsewhere, we were thrilled to discover that our favorite drinks were on the menu. The music was fantastic! The DJ really knew how to read the crowd, keeping the energy high and the dance floor alive. Kudos to the DJs during our visit—they truly know how to set the mood!
Overall, we had a great time at Papa Dom's. With Abdul's excellent service and the vibrant atmosphere, we left feeling like we’d found a fun bar to enjoy, even if we were a bit out of place in our outfits. If you're in Tagaytay and looking for a lively night out, this is the spot—just remember to dress for fun...
