Meduza Restaurant in Sopot delivers outstanding culinary quality the dishes are fresh, well-balanced in flavor, and beautifully presented. Particularly impressive were the Croissant Madam and the Croissant with shrimp, both excellent in taste, texture, and presentation. The pastries are homemade and simply exceptional: buttery, freshly baked, and a true hallmark of the establishment.
Special praise goes to the warm and attentive waitress, Olena, whose genuine kindness and professionalism made the overall experience much more pleasant despite the initial disappointment.
Unfortunately, the positive impression was significantly marred by the reception experience. The young man with curly hair at the front desk reacted not only dismissively but also rather harshly and condescendingly when we politely requested, despite a prior reservation with a baby, to be seated at a quieter table away from the entrance. Our son is only six months old, so we had asked for a side table to be able to nurse him discreetly without drawing attention. It was particularly frustrating to see that two suitable tables were clearly available but deliberately left unused, as the host remained stubborn and unaccommodating.
We were not the only guests to notice this behavior. Several others seemed equally dissatisfied with the seating choices assigned by the same person.
It’s truly unfortunate when a place with such strong potential and culinary excellence loses its shine due to a lack of hospitality at the very first point of contact. In an established restaurant like this, early success should not be overshadowed by creeping arrogance in customer interaction.
Conclusion: Excellent food, outstanding homemade pastries, and warm service, especially from Olena, but the reception clearly needs improvement to bring the overall experience up to the level of...
Read moreMeduza is a very pretty place — amazing what they’ve done with the location. The building itself is this iconic brutalist structure, which used to house HAH bar (with gay nights and karaoke). It always felt underused, but now it really shines.
The interior is beautifully done, the terrace is lovely, and the staff is super friendly. They also have an in-house bakery, so anything baked is great. Coffee’s also excellent.
I had the steak tartare — three small portions, nicely presented but trying a bit too hard. That’s a common thing in Poland (or maybe the whole region): a chef adds too many elements — some creamy thing, a spoon of sturgeon roe, something crispy. The meat was also too cold.
Didn’t enjoy that dish, but I loved the space, the vibe, and the team. I’ll definitely come back, and hopefully next time I can bump my four stars to five. The potential is huge. Easily one of the most beautiful spots in...
