An Exquisite Culinary Haven in Sopot

I recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at Restauracja Diuna in Sopot, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. This gem of a restaurant truly embodies the essence of fine dining with its exceptional service and sublime cuisine.
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and attended to with top-notch service throughout our meal. The staff's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu added an extra layer of excellence to our dining experience.
The culinary journey began with a delightful canapé of homemade bread accompanied by burnt butter and mackerel pâté, a simple yet heavenly start. The green curry soup with prawns was an aromatic delight, while the seatrout and beef tenderloin were expertly prepared, bursting with flavours that danced on our palates, an interesting interpretation of surf’n’turf presented as a soup.
As starters, we indulged in the veal sweetbread Wellington, which was cooked to perfection, and the tuna tartare, which was fresh and vibrant. Each dish showcased the chef's remarkable skill and creativity.
The mains were a true testament to Restauracja Diuna's culinary prowess. The octopus with spuds croquette was a masterpiece, complemented by the kimchi-marinated tenderstem broccoli, adding a unique twist. The lamb rump steak with honey and peanut brown sauce was tender and succulent, while the baked eggplant provided a rich and flavourful accompaniment.
Every dish was a symphony of well-composed flavours, and the use of various cooking techniques, such as chargrill and sous vide, elevated the textures and tastes to perfection. The versatility of the flavour profiles and the harmony with which they complemented each other were nothing short of extraordinary.
Restauracja Diuna has set a new standard for dining in Sopot, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Our lovely waitress provided exceptional service and helped us with an ad-hoc “aperitif mini tasting” session and excellent wine recommendations. The wine selection was a perfect match for our dishes.

What I didn't like though, and I really hope it would change, is that they allow customers to smoke. So, out of 10 tables taken there was one table that was smoking and because the wind is unpredictable it's impossible to take a table where the smoke wouldn't touch you. I frankly do not understand why the laziness of one table to step out for a filthy habit should make the rest of the tables suffer. And I doubt that the chef really wanted their octopus to smell with Malboro red.

The goose consomme with cabbage stripes and sour kraut gel was incredibly well balanced.
The goose leg was perfectly cooked sous vide and served on top of potato pure with baked potatoes (yes! And that worked perfectly well) , accompanied with a deep meaty sauce and small cubes of goose liver. What a fiesta!
