Pastelowe — Restaurant in Warsaw

I was really looking forward to trying pastéis de nata in Warsaw, but this place was a big letdown. First of all, they were served cold, which is already a bad sign — in Portugal, they’re usually served fresh and hot, right out of the oven. That warmth is essential to the experience.

Secondly, the cream filling was totally off. The texture and flavor were nowhere near the original.

And don’t even get me started on the price — let’s just say, if you’ve got a big appetite, it might be cheaper to book a flight to Lisbon and have the real thing there.

Not recommended if you’re looking for an authentic Portuguese...

Where to start…if you’re searching for a pastry to warm your soul and an atmosphere to warm your face, you’ve come to the right place.

Their pastéis de nata are wonderfully flaky, soft, and so heartwarming to eat you’ll certainly be coming back for another couple after finishing your first. Coupled with a warm haven from the outside cold, Pastelowe left me feeling happy and satisfied with my quick 40 minute visit.

Very well balanced taste. The sweetness was subtle and not at all overpowering. The custard filling was really creamy and the fillo pastry was very light and crunchy. It was topped off with a strong cinnamon taste and had bits of melted chocolate in the middle. Overall it was a very good tasting desert.
