Unfortunately, Napa didn’t quite meet expectations during our recent visit. While the interior is quite nice and the atmosphere pleasant, there were several issues that made the overall experience less than satisfying.
The food was okay—not bad, but certainly not memorable. For instance, the octopus paired with a grippy purée didn’t work well in my opinion, as it only made the octopus feel drier. The dishes in general lacked a certain balance and finesse.
One major drawback was the service. I would rate it quite low. We were served wine before water, which is a basic misstep in restaurant service. The bottle of wine arrived already opened and wasn’t even presented to us properly. Even more puzzling was the fact that no wine list was available. Throughout the meal, we had to pour our own wine and water, which took away from the dining experience.
The tables are also rather small, which makes sharing dishes uncomfortable, especially if you’re dining with a group.
That said, it seems the main appeal of Napa may be its affordability. The prices are quite reasonable, which might explain the restaurant’s popularity. Still, for those looking for a truly satisfying culinary experience, Napa...
Read morefrom day one we are regular guests in Napa and I wrote in the past about my poititive opinions. This weekend we went again to spend nice time in Napa but the service was absolutely poor. We were offered that a wine sommelier will advice us but the could tell us anything about the wine.... but we found a good one at the end. After we finished starters and main dish, the waitress forgot twice to take the plates. When we receive the main, she forgot to bring new cutlery. Since it was not so busy there where sitting on a chair behind the bar - so they could see anything what happening in the guest area. I had to go twice to ask for support. This is not the Napa level, especially that nearby you can find more and more restaurants on the level and to be honest, some of them outperform Napa already. But...
Read moreThe food was delicious! Unfortunately, the experience was worsened a bit by a few details. We were offered to taste the wine and chose what we’d prefer, which we appreciated, but that made us believe that the wine would be of a better quality than it turned out. It also was served in a bin with ice but the bin had dried out water stains all over and looked dirty. One napkin per person and not ironed tablecloths. Also, there was no information about time limited reservation when it was booked but after 2.5 hrs we were asked, politely but still, to vacate the table. Completely understandable, considering very reasonable prices, but it would be nice to have a heads up before coming in. Wouldn’t call it fine dining place, however, they serve affordable and...
