I'd like to think I'm close to being an expert on this place by now. I've gone almost weekly for a few years, to a point where going to any other bar feels like cheating.
Beers are affordable (10-12 for drafts, bottles range). Cocktails are great - they spend a lot of time making them, adding lots of garnishes and additions, and have their own style to it. They're fairly priced and effort is put in. Recently, they started to sell homemade paninis, which have been not only really tasty, but at a price that is rare to find in Wrocław these days. Football and almost any other sport can and will be shown (just ask!). Chairs and tables are good heavy wood, the front and back garden are comfortable and pleasant. It's exceptionally easy to both pass the time here and celebrate with friends.
Obviously, being this much of a regular, I'm biased - I love it. It's cozy and calm, they pour Czech beers from the tap and have a rotating selection of great craft beers. I love the staff - the couple who own it and their employee, all of whom have become, at least to me, friends at this point. It's a clean and reliable place, feeling like you're not in the middle of a big city or part of some dry, sterile corporate environment. Relax, let go of your pretensions, and enjoy.
I'll address a few of the bad reviews since I think they paint some misconceptions.
reservations are very much respected here, I make one almost weekly between 2 and 6+ people. Making a reservation during the Polish matches of Euros on Nasyp is different. It's one of the busiest days of the year and there's always dozens, if not hundreds of people searching for space. If you're late, someone else will take it - it's Euros, come on. If you'll be late, call. They'll do their best.
Service can be beyond helpful, accommodating and friendly - even for those who don't speak Polish. But this isn't a corporate chain or modern "concept" bar. Alicja has run this place for years and is direct. It really isn't personal, run a bar in the center of a major city for years and I'm sure you'll understand. For the owners, they spend almost every day caring for this place. Give it - and them - some respect.
I'll be coming here for a long, long time. It has been a home away from home and I recommend anyone to come here, see if it fits your personality, and enjoy. If it clicks with you, nowhere else...
Read moreThis is a great little pub under a railway bridge where you regularly hear the rumble of trains above. Cosy and welcoming, it's just a short walk from the main railway station (Wrocław Główny). The interior has quite an English feel inside with various pleasantly old-fashioned decorations on the wall and ceiling. There are also outside tables underneath a canopy at the front, plus other tables at the rear.
They have good draught beers, such as Kozel, plus some great-value craft beers in bottles (as cheap as 12 złoty). They also serve cocktails. Staff are friendly and dogs are welcome.
You can order pizza from the place a few doors along and eat it in the pub. Or just order a bowl of peanuts..! I just drink here and you should, too, if you're...
Read moreNot the coolest venue being stuck right at the end of the bar crawl but seemed to offer one of the more authentic, if slightly dated, vibes. All wood inside with 90s pop TV channels playing but really welcoming. Had a few regulars in which was a bit intimidating but had an interesting selection of drinks and fun, local barmaid/owner who was clearly interested in providing a good service. She offered a choice of drinks including samples and a strong recommendation for 8.8% beer which proved a bit too rich for the occasion! Happy to deal with English speaking customers with a smile. Simple things which definitely make a...
