Located under a railway bridge, close to the main railway station, this cosy Indian restaurant has around 10 tables and a pleasant interior.
The food is generally very tasty – it is proper Indian food. For example, the mutton madras is rich in flavour and very spicy..! (The only exception was a hot and sour soup I ordered as a starter that had a very peculiar taste and I couldn't finish it.) The menu is varied without being extensive.
I recommend eating your main course with a nan bread rather than rice (as an Indian friend of mine recommended). The nan breads are pretty decent quality.
They make a fantastic salty lassi drink which helps cool the throat after a mouthful of super spicy food.
Prices are not cheap but reflect the quality of food (my mutton madras was 52 zloty).
Perhaps due to its small size, they don't accept reservations on a weekend. I find this trend among some restaurants very strange – particularly as the place was two-thirds empty on a Saturday evening. We took a risk and got a table at 7.30pm.
One negative was the service on our second visit. The only waitress was very friendly, but she disappeared for 10 minutes when we wanted to order more drinks. I then attempted three times to order from a nearby staff member but they weren’t paying any attention, so I had to approach the serving counter. Managers should be covering for staff who take breaks – not standing around chatting or avoiding eye contact with diners.
Overall, it's an authentic Indian restaurant which is worth a visit if you fancy something...
Read moreThe restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating options. The inside is relatively small with a couple tables. Popular bollywood songs are playing in the background.
Service was helpful with giving information while placing orders and went to the kitchen a few times to ask if they could accommodate my friend's nut allergy. They had to be called anytime we needed anything though.
The food was okay; it was not the worst I have had but also not even close to the best. Items were mislabeled for other indian dishes (ie. the pakora are actually just bajjia). The paaperdum was undercooked. The butter chicken was on the acidic side and could have been more rich. The palak paneer was actually quite nice with a nice spinach flavor without too much bitterness. The naan was very crispy but could have been a bit fluffier. The mango laasi had a good mango flavor.
Overall, its not a bad place but there are...
Read moreThis place has done this to me third time and now I need to express this. I called them and complained when they gave me burned samosa on take away order two times and they told they will take care of it. It's understandable to make a mistake once a while, but I sense this is an attitude problem, knowing customer can't do anything on home delivery. Day before yesterday, this happened third time when I went to pick order explained to be cautious about seeing what they serve and they packed a burned samosa again. Both pictures are from different dates.
This height of...
