17/09/2023 . Coming from Bretagne in France for a large Road Trip in Portugal .Our 7th stop was Evora. My wife and i had à lunch at the São Luis restaurant (to note It was recommended by our French Guide du Routard 2023). We were really disappointed by the gap between the reality of our experience this day and the recommendations of the Guide, the Gmaps opinions + photos. In fact, a waitress explained to us upon my request that the restaurant had changed location slightly recently. So , to confirm that the photos on the terrace side are up to date (terrace being here a nice word ! ). However the interior no longer corresponds. the restaurant terrace and entrance are right at and in the covered municipal market of Evora and the inside room to eat in this place consists of a succession of separate boxes, cute and in woodwork, therefore could be cosy. but with a longitudinal access corridor from restaurant entrance on the left side of the boxes and a total opening and access on right side direct on the covered market. It's not very pleasant , even on this day when there was no market , as the onlookers walking around were looking at your plates ! Add that the service was in a rush impatient mode, i.e. as soon as we sat down, 3 minutes later the young unsmiling Lady came to pick up our order ... God of me , those eyes of young hurried service people when you say to order 1st an aperitif to drink while you calmly will choose from the menu 🤔 Even obliged to end up this pressing by saying in usual English (I dare , my job - Logistic international ) that we were from Bretagne (Breizh) Finistère in France and service and gastronomy we know perfectly as well we used to avoid the fast food restaurant and that pushing the customer is not part of our culture. As for the dishes, we were disappointed by the strong taste sensation of same being done " so quickly" ! The land and sea dish (Ter e Mar) did not reach our expectations hopes . On the other hand , let say that €28 for the dish may you to hope better quality at this price . Add really ordinary or even tasteless desserts and wtih a minimal choice! Rushed welcome and goodbye side not even a glance. May be we had choose the wrong day ? Sorry I rarely criticize but I don't understand the rating of this " estaminet " unless we experienced the exception of a bad day . Read moreWe loved it. Yes, the restaurant is now at the square, at the market place, great spot. We were here for dinner and throughly enjoyed it. The service, the food, wine. If you want a quick grab, then go to one of many "tourist " places in the town. This is a real place, service might take longer - as they chat to friends (having said that, ours was spot on, just saying) - but it feels like you are having a dinner with a family. We throughly enjoyed every aspect of it, well recommended. Read morePéssima experiência em todos os sentidos - desde a comida ao atendimento por parte dos funcionários. Pedimos: 3 bifes grelhados, bem passados com esparregado. Uma vez que ficámos na esplanada e, por esquecimento de pedir os bifes bem passados, dirigimo-nos ao interior do restaurante para o efeito. A funcionária - que, por sinal, extremamente arrogante, - entregou-nos 3 bifes fritos, mal passados e com salada (tomate e alface, sendo que esta já com manchas escuras nas folhas). Explicámos à funcionária que este não tinha sido o nosso pedido e a senhora em questão, muito mal humorada, disse que poderia trocar, mas que demoraria mais 20/25 minutos de espera (isto quando já tinhamos esperado mais de 40 minutos para sermos atendidos com um restaurante não tão cheio quanto isso). No ato do pagamento (58€ por três menus praticamente intocados, 2 imperiais e uma água de 1.5L) uma outra funcionária não fez qualquer tipo de atenção e ainda nos deu um talão que não se conseguia ler. Além de querer escrever o número de contribuinte no papel porque se esqueceu de o colocar.
