The Bakery Lounge — Restaurant in Évora

Extremely dissapointed by this cafe which serves you the tiniest toast for 8€ with barely anything on it! It is super expensive for what you pay, the bread is just a simple industrial slice of white bread, the salad on the side is also extremely small nothing extraodinary! We ordered 2 drinks one fresh pineapple juice and 1 iced coffee, and we basically paid for water, there was no taste and for the juice and the coffee tasted like pure water with a slice of lemon!! After our « meal »we were still hungry, we disnt bother ordering anything else because of the price of the meals and didnt bother taking a dessert either! We went for our second meal somewhere else where we paid less money for a better quality and quantity of food. Wheb asked for added ingredients on the toast the answer was simply a « no » the waiter did not want to add items (that were on the menu) to my order, they were not very flexible with the orders either. The place and the atmosphere of the cafe is the only good point that i can mention as they have a very peaceful outdoor terrace with some spots in the shade and some under the sun Service was just ok, we are use to a better service from the Portuguese. After mentioning our dissapointement the waiter didn’t say sorry and just replied that thus was the price of their meals here and didn’t seem chocked at all.

We will definitely not be back they only want to make profit as their meals are just way overpriced...

I ordered the Burger which came with a half patty next to a piece of a small patty, which was hidden under melted cheese. The patties were gray, looked undercooked.On top there was a lettuce leaf, which was cooked with the hot cheese and there was a piece of cooked CAULIFLOWER!! I sent it back and ordered a new one. I was told that the kitchen does not have the ingredients (a whole patty, onions, tomatoe, and a pickle) so they couldn't make another one. In other words, they made a burger out of rests they had in the kitchen ,rather telling that they can't make one, so I could have ordered something else rather than waiting for 30 minutes. On top of that we had to pay for the fries (which comes with the burger in the menu). When we refused to pay we got a very rude answer from what we think was the owner. I have no problem paying for the fries, but at least expected an apology. It looks like a nice and cosy place but the customer service is unacceptable. So in my opinion they rather make profit rather than serve for...

I wish I had better things to say, but unfortunately, this was the most underwhelming meal I’ve ever had in Portugal. It felt as if the cook’s main goal was to put in the least effort while charging the most—especially for tourists.

Portugal is known for its generous portions and reasonably priced wine, but not here. A simple glass of wine for €4.50 is overpriced by local standards, and the food was far from what you’d expect in a country famous for its rich culinary traditions. A veggies sandwich for almost 10 bucks. The flavors were uninspired, the portions meager, and overall, it lacked the warmth and authenticity that make Portuguese dining special.

The only saving grace was the service, which was efficient and polite. But good service can’t make up for a mediocre meal at inflated prices. If you’re looking for a great Portuguese dining experience, I’d recommend...
