We arrived with our 4 year old son for lunch. As we were not hungry we just ordered some snacks for us and the hamburger for our son. We also ordered a big bottle of Sparkling Water. After 15 minutes nothing arrived. We then asked again if they forgot about our water. They informed us then that they do not have a big bottle of sparkling water. We were a bit confused why they didn’t inform us that they had run out of big bottles but then we ordered small bottles. After another 10minutes and no sparkling water delivered, we decided to leave the restaurant as it was clear to us that the staff didn’t want to serve us. We informed the staff about our decision as we felt that they don’t want to have us as guests. The employee was then very loud, unfriendly and he explained to us that it wasn’t his fault. We shouldn’t make a fuss. He then accused my wife of being a rude person. He basically insulted our family. His view was that his job is simply to take orders and that if his colleague fails to bring it, that shouldn’t matter. That says an awful lot about this man and the staff at this restaurant. They can’t be operating as a unit. This is simply is bad restaurant - decorated elegantly to fool you into coming in. Don’t bother unless you want to consume ambience and/ or rudeness. Never!
In our opinion there can be only two reasons for this behaviour. 1) the restaurant doesn’t want couples with children and that would be more worrying in Portugal 2) they have a racist vibe. They prefer an entirely white clientele.
Whatever the reason for this behaviour was, this restaurant can’t be recommended...
Read moreA tourist trap with scam techniques. I'm not sure where to start, so let's break it into parts:
We sat at a table, and we were greeted by the waiter bringing us some dry bread and a bottle of water; so far, so good, but I'll get to it later.
The 5€ "Season fresh salad" was a bit of sliced lettuce with three (yes, three) slim slices of tomato. Red flag #1
We were recommended a "delicious and delicate" roasted cheese plate, but what we got in return was some soggy supermarket cheese, melted from the microwave with a touch of grease and oregano on top. Red flag #2
Ovos rotos: way overpriced (15€), but it was okay, and the smoked ham was actually pretty decent.
We didn't have the opportunity to try the desserts because we kept on being ghosted by the waiter. Looking back in time, I'm happy we didn't.
Now for the fun part, the bill: After waiting for a long time, we finally got the bill and noticed that we got charged 1.5€ for the dry bread and 3€ for a bottle of tap water. We said we didn't order it, asked for an explanation, and ended up getting a pathetic list of continuous excuses. It was getting too long, so I gave up.
When they came back with the change, it was...
Read moreFelt mistreated here. We were seated and the waitress who seated us passed us off to another waitress. This waitress took our order. We ordered 4 tapas plates and two beers. We asked for olive oil also which we asked for three more times and never received. My wife got her plates, mine never came. I got ahold of the waitress and asked for another beer, and my plates and some olive oil. Table next to us asked for beer after we did, they received theirs and I didn’t. I asked for olive oil again, didn’t show up, and the the next table handed us their bottle. I put a little on the plate and the first waitress came running out and took it away. Without explanation. I tried to get the bill so we could leave and it was like pulling teeth. Finally they showed up and charged us for the plates we never received and the olive oil they never delivered. Finally took off the two plates, but still charged for the olive oil. Paid the bill for the olive oil, and left. Terrible service, mean nasty employees. I would not recommend anyone eat here. I usually photograph my food, hard to do when you...
