The food was mostly good, it's a beautiful restaurant with a lovely setting. However... The service. It leaves much to be desired during their evening seating. We'd been once in the afternoon and had a wonderful experience, but wish we hadn't gone back for dinner a few days later.
We were sat without menus for at least 15 minutes. At 30 minutes I had to ASK for our drinks order to be taken. Half an hour without even a drinks order. The waiter I asked delegated to another, who was SO RUDE to me saying "well look" to indicate how busy they were. No sorry, no apology. He then asked to take our starters order, to which I reminded him we hadn't even had our drinks order taken. He continued to be rude and had an attitude for the majority of the evening until the restaurant has started to quiten down. We had an incorrect dish brought to our table, which again the waiter was huffing and puffing about insisting it was ours, until he finally checked the original order list. I also saw incorrect dishes and drinks being taken to other tables.
We had to return a €40 fillet steak as it was cooked blue instead of medium (how do you even make this mistake?). The same steak was slapped back on the grill, sauce and all, and returned to the table. I am in absolute disbelief any chef would put a €40 steak back on the grill after it had been cut in two. I wish we'd sent it back for a second time, but we'd given up at this point.
We reordered the nduja pasta we'd enjoyed 2 days before, only to have to send it back because it was inedibly spicy. Our waiter did come back and explain the nduja was from a different supplier, hence it being spicier. However at the prices of this restaurant there should be consistency in their dishes. It was spicy to the point it suggests no one in the kitchen was tasting or checking dishes. The spice level wasn't just a matter of personal taste, it was so hot it was inedible.
For the price of the food, the service level just did not suffice. We had a waitress turn up to our table asking people to shout out who was having pasta, and later who was having dessert so she could hand spoons out. At this price point I'd be expecting seamless service with the correct cutlery arriving to the right diners without asking.
Our waiter was also incredibly impatient when handing out dishes, insisting on saying the names of the dishes quickly in Italian, almost as if he was making a point of not saying it in a way we'd understand. There was a long delay between the majority of our main courses arriving, with half the table having nearly finished their food by the time the rest arrived. It was clear some dishes had been sat under heat lamps for prolonged periods, as the sauces had formed a skin.
Truly the worst service we received in 2 weeks of being in Portugal. I wonder if the man sat next to us wearing a pair of €500 Dita sunglasses was treated in the same way? I...
Read moreI booked from the UK as a birthday treat for myself and was so looking forward to dining here. Sadly a very disappointing service as so slow to take orders and food arriving at different times so we couldn't eat together, we weren't the only customers either experiencing such lack of customer care yet saw regular diners being served ahead of us and food being brought to the table together , on time. I asked for diet drinks only to be brought full sugar ones for my children and then when asking ataff to rectify rhe problem they attempted to take thei ice from the full sugar drink to put in the glass for rhe diet drink as they forgot the ice. I said NO as not allowed and what if we were diabetic!! We waited 15-20 minutes from one meal arriving at the table to the other 3, not good at all when dining as a family. We weren't the only ones either having the same issue dining.
We had booked a few weeks in advance but when arriving the waiter clearly couldn't see my reservation at all and when asking for the bill wwe were charged for an item we hadht ordered.
I emailed the restaurant on Wednesday to inform them of all as we dined on Tuesday evening but they have yet to acknowledge my messge or respond.
Completely disappointing in every respect at such shocking service and complete lack of attention to customer care during our time at the restaurant and ignorance afterwards in not responding to my email..
I can say without doubt that we will NOT be dining there again and NOR would i ever...
Read moreDo not go here if you are Gluten free/ definitely do not go here if you are coeliac. Went tonight, the ambiance was excellent, the venue itself is beautiful, the piazzas looked good. After asking the manager what was gluten free, the option offered was the fish and meat courses. I was told they had gluten free pasta, but it's cooked in the same water as normal pasta, so not safe due to cross contamination. . It takes two minutes to boil fresh water to cook gluten free pasta. Then it came to ordering and the server again reiterated what the manager said. When I tried ordering the lamb he said I could have it with no Sauce, then I asked about the pork and steak and again was told no sauce. I settled for the seabass and veg option. The server asked what sides we wanted. I clarified about the 'baked potato' asking was it small potato or a big one. He said it was a baked potato, the seabass was overcooked and the veg were cold. But what troubled me was that the 'baked potato' were wedges, that looked coated in something. I asked the server to clarify if I could eat them, as they were not a baked potato and looked deep fried in oil. He kept reiterating that they were fried in oil, and eventually understood what I was saying and he said don't eat them. I had only the fish and cold veg to eat. I asked was there anything else carb wise to eat, and was informed no. The manager came and offers me...
