Wow. Just wow. Let’s start with the great food that they serve. They focused on the Piri Piri chicken which they really know how to serve. In combination with the tomato salad and the fries it gives a delicious dinner. The spicy aswell as the non spicy version are both really a good choice. I am still fastcinated that they don’t use tables or pen and paper to order but oldacool phone like devices to which they put in the order numbers which they all know by heart. The staff is friendly and competent. Even tho it’s a large restaurant they are quick and pay a lot of attention to all the guests. As you can’t reserve bring some time as you might need to wait. Last time we waited 45 mins which were worth it all the way. The desserts were also quite delicious. Maybe a little bit sweet but good in the taste and the variety to choose from was adequate. Don’t get deterred by the old fashioned desert card. The desserts are anything but boring.

This isn’t a place for a fancy experience. It’s a quick, canteen style operation that turns out platter after platter of Guia piri piri chicken. It’s hugely popular with locals and tourists, and you may have to wait at peak times. If going there by car, there is a large car park to the rear. Unless you ask for a menu, the waiters will assume you’re there for the piri piri. They quickly key it into their little hand held devices as they’re talking and off they go for the next table. The typical order is chicken, tomato & onion salad, and fries, and it’s a fantastic simple combination. The chicken is grilled, chopped on the bone and dressed with a salty, slightly vinegary sauce. It’s not a huge portion, and I have found myself ordering a second platter on very hungry days. But with the sides, there is plenty.

This is a restaurant I so badly wanted to give 4 stars to but ended up giving 3. The experience might be totally different if I was a returning customer but that’s for another day. I was told this was THE chicken place in the world of Portuguese cuisine. I had no clue of how big this place really is and if you approach for the first time it’s small from presence belies it’s enormity. They have their own parking space on their property so don’t park on the village roads if you can help it. The table service let the restaurant down. I wish our waiter had introduced us and asked if we’d been there before, before he launched into the assumption that he knew perfectly well what we wanted. Let me warn you now that although the chicken was really tasty it’s not actually a chicken you’re going to eat. It’s more like a baby chick that’s been alive for two weeks - TINY and for an adult this will simply not satisfy. If you like hot spicy don’t accept the ‘hot’ version they offer but instead request a separate bowl of peri peri - which is awesome. I’m h, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to get a table.

My boyfriend had to listen to me for nearly two weeks of our vacation as I lamented on how I NEEDED piri piri chicken in Portugal (specifically from the famous chicken town of Guia). Finally, we made the pilgrimage for this poultry perfection and let me tell you - it did not disappoint. The chicken is flavourful and juicy, the fries are ridiculously good, and the salad is simple yet addictive. We loved it so much we ordered a second round and requested even spicier chicken (which we preferred). On top of it all, our server was very kind and efficient. I would have eaten here every day if my itinerary would have allowed it. A must visit place!

Excellent meal! Tender and juicy chicken, good fries / chips and tomatoes, just like pictures shared by others. Arrived at 21:00 on a Saturday and waited just a few minutes, then once seated and ordered the meal arrived within 5 minutes. Feels like a “locals” restaurant, away from tourist areas, little English spoken but no issue to order and pay. Cheap meal so great value, we took the same to go for the next day. Really a meal to try when around Albufeira. Large parking in the back and entry through parking, not main street door.

This is a mandatory stop if you're nearby or even a little bit far. This small chicken traditional to Guia is cooked to perfection with low waiting times. That is, if you arrive before this opens, as it's the most famous Guia Chicken restaurant it fills up in an instant. After you enter, there are plenty of tables and waiters who will take your order in an instant and your food will arrive shortly. Price is affordable considering the taste of the chicken and fries. (They also have other, while very limited, options).
