Restaurante Guincho — Restaurant in Albufeira

We went there specifically for one dish called a Francesinha. This is a traditional dish from Porto, not the Algarve, but we were informed the family who ran the restaurant were from Porto, and they specialised in food from their home area. A Francesinha is not for the faint hearted and we know what we're letting ourselves in for. It is bread, with steak, topped with different types of ham, topped with several sausages, topped with more bread and more ham. Then another slice of bread then several hand fulls of cheese which is then put in the oven to melt then a fried egg is put on top. Then, the sauce is added, which is made from beer, mustard, and a secret blend of herbs. This is then served with a massive portion of French Fries. This is almost like the ultimate Porugese food challenge. We went in hungry and have not eaten from the day before and ordered one between the two of us. It nearly beat us, but we did manage to eat it all. Felt pretty stuffed the next few days but enjoyed the food. It was a challenge, and I had always wanted to try one and really pleased we did it. Fomos jantar numa 2f. Ao entrar no restaurante, estava a dona junto à porta a passar a ferro. O atendimento foi simpático, mas depois nos pedidos é que tornou se horrível. Pedimos douradinhos para os miúdos e trouxeram nuggets de frango. A desculpa da primeira empregada foi que tinha acabado os douradinhos então trouxeram nuggets sem sequer perguntarem. Depois veio uma segunda empregada desculpar se, e a versão foi que o cozinheiro enganou se e trocou, mas que não foi por não haver douradinhos. A minha esposa pediu dourada grelhadas, e as batatas vinham frias. Eu pedi bitoque e as batatas vinham oleosas. Fui enganado pelas avaliações de 4,5 no Tripadvisor.
