Restaurante Solgamba — Restaurant in Albufeira

My grilled vegetables were «seasoned» with broken crockery shards(!!!!!) I didn't notice and started eating. As soon as I felt a crunch in my teeth and bits of something foreign in my mouth, I immediately spat it out and quickly rinsed my mouth with water. I still don't know if anything got into my food pipe, but my tongue was definitely cut. The restaurant owner rushed to replace my meal and assured me it was just shell fragments (how could they have gotten on grilled vegetables???), but I clearly saw that they were white shards from a broken plate or something of the sort. The end result: they charged me the full price for the dish, except for the glass of cheapest box wine (3.50€).

Overall, the food was almost cold and not very tasty. They probably prepare the food in advance and just reheat it...

We were recommended this restaurant by a local taxi driver, it's a bit off the beaten tourist track but easy enough to find. We popped in at lunch time, plenty of tables available, although it's only April, so maybe a bit quieter than high season. There is a really decently priced set menu, but we decided to go off the normal menu. There was a kids menu available with a good variety of choice. Garlic bread for starters was delicious, made on Portuguese rolls ❤️ For mains the kids choose chicken nuggets 🙄, the adults had the chicken espetada and the mixed grill. Both were delicious and good portion size. Toilets were clean. The place was more traditional decor, which is what we wanted (something more authentic). We'd happily visit again...

Due to very busy, everything went wrong. Bad service, long time to wait for getting the food. I got the grilled seafood, with potatoes and vegetables. Everything was lukewarm, and the vegetables was overcooked. This could not be true, so I tried again a couple of days later on a quiet night. This time everything was perfect. Quick service, and the food, swordfish perfectly grilled potatoes and vegetables. Everything warm. For dessert, chocolatecake...
