Resturante O Pescador — Restaurant in Albufeira

This review is for the beach chair service as it’s run by this restaurant. We visited this beach and enquired as to whether we could pay to sit on one of the deck chairs (there were about a hundred and 70% were empty, with hundreds of people sitting on the sand around them). The man rudely told us no and that they were all reserved and ushered us away. We asked if we could just pay to sit there until the person who reserved them came (I was with an elderly person who is sensitive to direct sunlight and therefore needed the shade). He didn’t even let me finish before saying ‘no’. To gather ourselves, we just sat briefly on the sand next to the deck chairs. There was a bit of shade from another umbrella. After a few moments a different man came over shouting and telling us to leave. I explained we weren’t using their chairs and they didn’t own the sand. I said we needed to get shoes on and were on our way, but that we didn’t appreciate being spoken to aggressively. He kept going on and on, getting aggressive and pink in the face. I said I would leave a bad review of his business because he cannot speak to us like that (at no point did I raise my voice at him). He said ‘good, we don’t need you, JUST GO’.

As I was speaking in English he kept saying ‘ what are you, English?’ to try and discern my nationality. I didn’t say I was Italian but I sure as hell know this would not happen in Italy. Never been treated so rudely and...

We asked if there was a table available today, we were told yes so we got the kids up off the beach. We asked politely if we could sit inside (there were many available tables) but told no. We were then completely ignored for ten minutes. A waiter came to the table next to us who were locals to take a group photo for them. Again, totally ignoring us. When we were finally asked did we want menus we responded that we would like to eat please. The waiter returned to tell us the kitchen was now closed. Many others were seated at the same time as us so this whole experience seemed bizarre. Terribly unprofessional & rude. We should have been told the kitchen was closing and asked did we want to order food. Perhaps they don't welcome tourists to...

There is no doubt that the fish was fresh and tasty, even though the veggies was really nothing special, but overpriced, the check was 138 euros for fish for two, chicken with fries for our baby, 400 grams of clams as a starter and the drinks. Just 70 euros was for the seabass (for 2). Very expensive for the type of restaurant, while we always paid less than half of this in all the restaurants of the nearby 5 star hotel, we're we were staying at. I love portuguese marisqueiras (sea food restaurants), tried many of them, from the north to the south, tried fancy and expensive ones, still paid less than this for more food.
