Chinese Royal — Restaurant in Albufeira

First night in Albufeira (2nd trip here) and the husband wanted something different. It was raining so we opted for the lit up, sit down big Chinese place close to the hotel. Few other tables already dining when we arrived....that was a good sign as it was late, it was raining, and a lot of restaurants we're empty when we had walked by earlier in the evening.

Ordered the mushroom & chicken soup, the husband had wonton soup. Both flavorful. Chicken satay (2 pieces) for me. Cooked well, with some type of light, slightly curry tasting sauce. Tasty. Husband had woo-tip dumplings. Said they were different then he is used to but quite good. A nice surprise.

I had curry chicken, that had a nice amount of carrot, onion and mushrooms. Perfect-sized portion and flavorful. He had #59--some type of spicy chicken with cashew (sorry, don't recall name, but the # stuck LOL). He said it wasn't what he expected but it was good.

Overall, best Chinese food we've had in awhile (haven't found a good option in Miami FL yet). Plus staff was friendly and attentive. Left satisfied,...

The hot and sour soup was just €2 and was so delicious! I found it amusing that the hot and sour with chicken and egg was so great, yet the one without the meat tasted like tomato with water. Definitely would not recommend the latter.

The quarter crispy aromatic duck was incredible too! They dont serve you the whole piece with bones etc (like they do at many places especially in the UK). The waiter used a fork and spoon and spends a good 5 minutes at the table shredding the meat. The fried (I think bacon?) spring rolls were also delicious though they felt a little too crispy and too oily for my liking.

Amazing prices! The vegetarians at the table weren’t nearly as happy with their food, but I’d recommend this place to anyone who is not vegetarian/vegan. Windows with a pretty view of pink...

After reading the reviews on here I was really excited to try this chinese. After all, it’s my favourite food. I have to say I was very disappointed. It was nothing but average. I don’t where you lot have been eating to say this was excellent but you must be lacking in decent chinese restaurants where you live. The spring rolls were too fatty and hardly and vegetables in them, the rice was weird as though it had been boil in a bag and left on the side for a few hours, the spare ribs were meatless and covered in batter...yuk! My 5 year old wanted chicken in batter, the batter was there but no chicken inside.. well if there was it was minuscule. It was just rubbish. Nothing else to say. Maybe they were having a bad night? Or maybe the decent chef was off sick? Anyway, won’t be...
