Tavertino's — Restaurant in Albufeira

Mediocre is the word of the day. There are multiple places around better than this.

Starters: Veg soup- souper bland (get it?) This just tasted like potato, nothing else. It was also luke warm. Squid tenticle salad - this was the highlight of the experience. Squid, lettuce, pepper, salad, beef tomatoes and onion. Interesting idea and quite nice, too big though. It was main meal sized.

Mains: Pizza - bought in cheap base that was rock hard. Tasted like it had been in the freezer for long time. Toppings were either flavourless or nothing but salt. Outer pizza was burnt. Very bland. Not edible. Steak portugese - supposedly oven baked steak and potatoes. I had no choice in steak cooking (other places offer this with this dish) so it came well done. Sliced potatoes were fried and soggy, not oven cooked. Sauce was very vinegary.

Desserts: Skipped dessert as decided to cut our losses.

Asked for a bill that never came, ended up finding a menu and totting up the total ourselves. €47.5 total, €50 note left and begrudged the loss of €2.5. It wasn't deserved but we just wanted to leave.

Service: Staff were not particularly friendly or chatty. They just wanted you in and out . We had long waits between ordering/courses. Never got the bill despite asking.

Venue: Outside area was closed. The inside area was very warm.

I seldom write negative reviews, but I must express my deep disappointment with this dining experience. We placed an order that included pizza, salmon, turkey with champignons, and a few starters. The starters were passable, but when the main dishes arrived, I was taken aback to find a frozen pizza on my plate. It seemed like they had merely added canned pineapple and extra cheese to it. While the taste wasn't terrible, it was evident that the ingredients were far from fresh. When I dine out, I expect a level of quality beyond what I can get at a supermarket, especially considering the prices here.

Furthermore, the atmosphere left much to be desired, and when I expressed my concerns about the pizza, the staff responded dismissively, offering no room for constructive criticism. The salmon and turkey were decent, but my family also ordered other seafood dishes, such as fish and octopus, which were disappointingly not fresh either. To their credit, the restaurant acknowledged that one of the dishes was subpar and promptly removed it from the bill without us having to request it. However, this was the only positive aspect of the entire experience.

I genuinely regret that I cannot provide a more positive review, but I hope the restaurant takes our constructive criticism to heart and works towards improving the overall...

Can't stress what a complete let down this venue was. Had to wait ages in a queue to be acknowledged but this gave false hope the restaurant was worth waiting for.....how wrong. Having finally been seated we waited a good 10 minutes to give our order. A long time later 1 (out of 2) starters arrived. My husband leant back in his chair and ended up on the floor with the chair in several pieces and glue showing previous repairs. The waiter came over and didn't even ask if he was ok but hurriedly gathered the pieces as everyone looked on.....no care or concern given. We finally asked for the other starter as some time had passed since we had eaten the 1st starter. It came .,..but had rotten olives mixed with fresh which was too off putting to try further...and straight away the main course arrived too. Main course was disappointing and not as represented in the menu picture (cataplana). The chips were gifted with a complimentary hair which had the desired effect of putting us off any further food. The service was poor at best. The food was frightening after finding rotten olives and hair and the chairs were downright dangerous. Recommended only for the brave/...
