Versatile Restaurante — Restaurant in Albufeira

Horrible experience!!

Myself and a group of friends were racially profiled. The waiter made a comment during a heated argument over the bill “you’ve been here before you know how this works” myself and the group have never been to Albufeira Portugal before!! Very telling…

Leading up to this argument. We waited nearly 2 hours for our food to come out. There was no reassurance from any of the waiters as to why our food was taking so long to come out, baring in mind other tables were coming and going during our time at the restaurant.

One of the girls waited an hour for her cocktail, another waited 45 minutes for tea and another asked for more water and waited for an hour she kept asking the waiters to the extent the table next to us felt sorry for her and gave some of their water to her.

When our food came out they forgot a few side dishes so we had to keep asking the waiters what was happening.

We was asked if we wanted water when we arrived we said yes the waiter filled our cups not even half full and us not noticing the bottle was not even finished and we was still charged for the full bottle (he didn’t leave the bottle on the table)

When we finally got another bottle of water after waiting a while we asked for still we got sparkling we asked to change but they never came back.

We asked why our food took so long to come out and they said a few tickets were lost but that was never explained to us until we asked ourselves.

Overall we felt like our table was ignored majority of the time, we was never catered too properly and it wasn’t a good experience.

WOW! We were thrilled by the service here, by far the best service in Portugal we have received so far. Servers are skilled and courteous, managers present and checking in. All food was fresh and prepared thoughtfully and was of course delicious. This meal was so good we came back the next day for an early dinner after the beach.

Reservations are strongly encouraged for prime dinner seatings but we managed to sneak in without one on our second visit around 6:30/7:00pm.

Highlights: potato’s gratin - very cheesy and creamy flavour! Octopus and veal carpaccio, wow stunning dishes made with fresh ingredients - the carpaccio had a delicious black garlic mousse and the octopus had an avocado and cumin mousse they were to die for. Steaks were cooked expertly and the matcha brownie dessert was delicious, the coconut white chocolate sauce is reminiscent of a Chinese dessert shop coconut broth that is served with peanut dumplings.

Notes: we ordered the chicken parmigiana and I would advise the name is not accurate, the chicken is not a flat cutlet rather a full chicken breast with some light breading and served with a very cumin forward tomato/pepper sauce. This was slightly disappointing as it was not what we were expecting but the pea risotto underneath was to die for! Bathrooms could use some attention throughout the night.

Regardless of that we have recommended this restaurant to all of our friends and can’t wait...

My girlfriend and I went to Albufeira only 3 full days, because it was the first time without kids. Long story short, we earned it and needed it plus I lost my mom last month so an extra reason to clear my mind. We both slept roughly 2 hours before our early flight. We stayed for comfort in an all-in resort, but our first day we wanted to go out eating in the finest restaurant. We took a nap before heading to Versatile, but still feeling exhausted we contemplated not going. We still went and boy did it not disappoint! The service was impeccable, immediate seating, super friendly and gentle, perfect amount of asking if everything is OK, when asked for information they give a full explanation, taking their time to 100% be sure your question has been answered. My girlfriend had special demands (whine, allergies) and they always respected and handled that. The food was very, very high quality, ingredients were assembled original but perfect. Never had better risotto in my life. At the end the owner took a chat with us, I told him it was a way of honouring my mom to drink a (very good 20 year old) porto.
