Absolutely outstanding. We booked a day during our holiday and asked for the beautiful window seat months before our holiday. We instantly received an email back making us aware that unfortunately the window wasn't available on the day requested but it was available on our last day. We accepted and I am so glad that we did. What a beautifully exquisite note to end our holiday on. We arrived early and got a drink in the hotel bar beneath the windmill, we were greeted by NuNo who took us to our seat earlier than expected and carried our drinks for us to the top of the windmill. Nuno asked our names whilst he seated us and throughout our meal he remembered our names every time he returned to us. We took part in the 3 course menu with wine pairing to get the full experience. Firstly the view, it very nearly reduced both of us to tears it was the most beautiful scene we have ever had before us. We had the scallops and the piglet belly. It was absolutely outstanding. For main we had the lamb and the risotto, with the catch of the day which was sea bass. Which coincidentally is my partners absolute favourite so he was so happy it was sea bass. For desert we got one of each. Everything was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection. But the main star has to be the wine pairing! Each wine tasted amazing, especially the green wine that was served with the scallops! We asked Noni how much time it took to pair a wine to a course because they were all so perfectly paired and he took the time to explain the process to us. What an experience to end our holiday on, thankyou so so much for the amazing food and the amazing service from Nonu. You really have a little gem here and I hope that everyone who comes to Albufeira finds you and ends their holiday on the perfect note that we did. You really were the cherry on top of our fantastic holiday and we would 100% return again hopefully in a different season to try a...
Read moreMy wife and I made a same day reservation and were greeted by name upon arrival. We both ordered from the (3) course tasting menu with wine pairing . Honestly, they could have brought us anything and I’m quite certain it would have exceeded expectation.
For starter we ordered Crispy Piglet. Piglet belly cooked at low temperature for 12 hrs.served with potato gratin, savory sauce and roasted vegetables. The meat was so very tender and suculant with a crispy skin that made for a perfect texture.
We also ordered the Goat cheese brûlée with honey caviar.. this was an exceptional starter with the pairing of flavors and texture.
For the Main, we ordered the slow cooked lamb. Lamb palette cooked at low temperature for 24 hrs.served with potato purée with blue cheese, baby carrots, and roasted leek.- this dish is worthy of a Michelin star and I would consider their signature dish. A must if you dine here!
My wife’s main main was Rissotto Bulhao Pato.- Rissotto of bulhao pato (coriander, clams, white wine,) accompanied with fresh fish of the day, citrus foam, and clam sphere.- this tasted incredible and was beautifully presented.
Finished desert with an apple crumble and yuzu sorvete was the perfect palette cleanser and a Peruvian chocolate mousse paired with port.
The ambiance is intimate and quite romantic accompanied by quiet jazz playing in the background . There are only (4) tables inside the windmill. But there is an outdoor terrace with more seating. Our table was very cozy, candlelit framed with by a window with the view of twinkling lights of Albufeira and the Med.
It was so good we booked a reservation for our daughter and son in law who will be arriving from the US to join us for the remainder of our holiday.
Thank you to NeuNo (spelling) for an incredible...
Read moreMy partner and I had an unforgettable dining experience at this charming windmill restaurant in the Algarve, Portugal, easily the best we've encountered in the region. The reservation process was a breeze, handled efficiently over email. Despite my specific request for a window seat, they humorously informed us we’d gotten the second-best view in the windmill—of two available windows. It turns out the premier view overlooking all of Albufeira is booked months ahead!
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by our waiter, Nuno, who spoke perfect English and was incredibly accommodating. The windmill itself offers a quaint terrace seating—just two tables for couples and a larger table for six nestled centrally. Stepping inside this historical gem, we navigated steep stairs, which Nuno attentively pointed out, especially as my wife is pregnant. Although the lack of AC (forbidden in this historical site) could have been a setback, Nuno thoughtfully provided a Spanish hand fan to keep us comfortable.
The food was nothing short of exquisite: a three-course meal priced at €70 may seem steep for the area, but it was absolutely justified by the quality—worthy of a Michelin star, in our opinion. We had choices of three starters, four mains, and two desserts, each dish confirming the high culinary standard.
Nuno’s service throughout the meal was flawless, making us feel truly special. It was also quite refreshing to see a more sophisticated crowd here, a nice change from the usual shorts and flip-flops attire elsewhere in the region.
All in all, this was a stellar experience—highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable meal in the Algarve. A perfect blend of ambiance, service, and...
