Restaurante Sitio do Mário — Restaurant in Albufeira

The set lunch here is outstanding value. For €8.50 per person you get a drink (incl beer or a carafe of house wine), bread and olives, soup of the day, and a choice of main course from 3 selections (usually fish/chicken/meat). Litre bottles of water are only 50c extra. This is not a tourist restaurant and locals make up about 90% of the clientele. Some of the staff are accommodating and some obviously don't like having tourists in, but it's worth coming nonetheless. Evening meals aren't as good value and tourists are made to feel less welcome in the evening. Nonetheless we came every day for lunch because it was clean, quirky and amazing value. On our last visit we had 3 set meals and the portly dark haired manager insisted that we only had to pay for two!...

The best place we have eaten, all holiday.

Authentic, honest, well cooked Portugese food. Non of this tourist rubbish.

So welcoming, spoke decent English and the decor was traditional. A roaring fire in the middle of the room. Such a vibe of people conversing and enjoying the surroundings.

We had a 3 course meal of vegetable soup which they bring to your table in a cauldron. Mains, we had grilled tuna, potatoes and salad and for desserts you just go and choose your own. The choices were various mousses, apple taste, fresh melon, fruit cocktail, fresh sliced pineapple.

Some people were getting more than one, which seems OK. We also had a large jug of red wine and olives as aperitifs!!

All of this for 2 people for only 27...

Stumbled upon this restaurant on our way back to our hotel up the hill and initially thought the the restaurant only catered to locals.

The manager/staff, Eduardo (sorry if wrong spelling) was so lovely and was very patient explaining the menu to us. Their Cataplana is made to order and the serving was massive, the ingredients were fresh and quite an understatement to say that it was delicious.

Food prices are very reasonable and cheaper than the ones that you see near the beach and town square. Their chicken is well seasoned and tender which both adults and kids will love.

Definitely will recommend this restaurant and will be our go to restaurant when we visit Albufiera...
