I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. For the location, the photos that show its authentic look and for the reviews here which are mostly positive. I think we were lucky we arrived early to get a table as the place quickly filled up. The menu looked delicious and very traditional Portuguese, as were the people dining. Unfortunately that’s where the good part of the experience ended. We waited 30 minutes for our food and when it finally arrived, the pork meat was overcooked (even though I could tell it was good meat), the breaded fish was cut in half instead of in filets, spine inside, which meant I had to undo the breading in order to remove the bones before eating the very dry, overcooked meat - not a great experience. My husband’s rice with prawns was delicious - however he had asked without coriander and after waiting thirty minutes (which we are sure was driven by the rice since everything else was overcooked) - it came filled with coriander. We ate quickly and left, disappointed. Service was ok, not friendly, not mean. Prices are high for the Portuguese countryside, so I expected (much) better food. Will not come back...
Read moreWe were driving south and in need of a lunch. After stopping at a very sad road restaurant we decided to look for something more promising in a nearby village, never regretted the decision.
Of you at in the neighbourhood and in for something good to eat, go here. Although the restaurant was full and people were waiting, we still received a very warm welcome and the patron really did his best to get us a table. Eventually we got offered a place at the bar and a complementary small beer. We had the spinach and cod rice and the clams and spinach rice soup. Especially the cod was excellent. Although we just tasted these two dishes, I'm pretty sure the rest of the food will be...
