Pé Nú Beach Club — Restaurant in Almada

Pé Nú, a beach front bar turned restaurant overtime like many of its kind around the area, had until recently been the last remaining bar/restaurant where customers could walk up from the water line to the dunes to order a bread or toast alike sandwiches and a beer or a glass of "sangria" for a light bite around lunchtime. But its seems no more. Now Pé Nú has fallen to the temptation of its neighbours (which I have chosen not to visit more than once or twice) and is only serving full meals between 12:30 to 16:00. Which is fine, once you know it but the quality of its service falls deep short from what it promises as such.

I have recently reserved a table for seven persons there. Three of us went up at the booked time to seat, while the other four remained behind. The booking manager refused to seat the first three while the group was not all together - unbelievable! The reason explained being that "it disturbs the service and kitchen if all requests are not done at the same time" - really??!!

Once we were all there we were taken to our table which wasn't set and ready. Despite being with 3 age-generations of preferences (for full meals, salads and sandwiches) we all had to order full meals. Then, whilst half of the tables were empty, it took literally more than one hour to be servered and when arrived it was served in staggered way: first two meals which despite being the same had different ingredients (which were adjusted on request), three other meals of the same kind arrived at different rounds, and finally a two portions of grille fish.

Some much for the rudeness of refusing to seat and serving customers as they arrive for the sake of harmonised ordering when meals are delivered in unpleasant rounds and in poor quality.

The overalll quality of the food is medium: the chicken salads, are more like "salad chicken" - lots of lettuce leafs and little of other ingredients; the special burgers (merely with cheese and tomatoes - really??!!) are rather dry and expensive considered that are served on "50cents" bread; the grilled fish was good but rather expensive too (but ok to live with that, as the serving was fairly good)!!

To make the long story short, is unlikely to visit this place again any time soon on a day out to the beach.

Service was poor, all but one waitress could not speak English. However, she was very friendly. Otherwise you were hardly noticed and you had to wait 15 minutes just for the drinks. We only had two soft drinks and no elaborate cocktails or anything. You could also hear the bell ringing from the kitchen all the time, as the waiters were mostly just standing around and showed little motivation to work. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food, the waitress came and asked if we had received our burgers yet. As we were still waiting, she said she would go and check. She then just said that there had been a problem and the food would be there in 5 minutes. Well, the burgers weren't that tasty that you should wait that long for them. Péssimo atendimento e falta de profissionalismo. Chegámos e aguardamos uns minutos na entrada aguardando que alguns dos funcionários que estavam espalhados pelo espaço se dirigissem a nós de forma a sabermos onde nos poderíamos sentar uma vez que todas as mesas tinham o aviso de “reservado”.

Depois de ninguém se dirigir a nós, apesar de termos sido vistos, dirigi-me ao balcão para questionar onde nós poderíamos sentar, ao que me responderam questionando “Mas é só pra uma coisa rápida, tipo um café certo?” ao que respondi que sim, apesar de ter ficado confusa com a pergunta já que eram 11:30 e o espaço se encontrava aberto e a funcionar, ainda que com apenas mais uma mesa a consumir. Dirigi-me à mesa, sentei-me e aguardei o atendimento, mas passados quase 10 minutos ninguém veio e dirigi-me novamente ao balcão para questionar como poderia efetuar o pedido, o que me responderam que era ao balcão. Apesar de eu já estar naturalmente incomodada com o tipo de atendimento e da postura de quem estava do outro lado do balcão, mantive a educação, dizendo apenas que me poderia ter avisado que o atendimento era feito ali da primeira vez que lá me dirigi em vez de esperar que eu me sentasse e ficasse quase 10 minutos a aguardar, com o staff claramente a notar que estávamos aguardar atendimento pois não fomos informados na minha primeira paragem no balcão onde deveria efetuar o pedido. Quando solicitei o menu no balcão para efetuar o pedido, informaram que o mesmo era digital e teria que utilizar o meu telemóvel para ler o QR code, outra coisa que poderiam ter dito na primeira ida ao balcão (Ainda bem que uso um smartphone e que tinha bateria no mesmo, já que não é obrigatório que todos tenhamos smartphones). Por último, questionei se aceitavam pagamento por multibanco, o que aceitavam mas a partir de 10€, informação esta que não estava afixada em nenhuma zona visível aos clientes, se é que estaria. Posto isto, desisti e fui-me embora do estabelecimento sem consumir pois para além do péssimo atendimento, a postura de quem atendia parecia de quem estava a fazer-me um enorme favor ao atender-me e a responder às questões que fiz, com toda a educação e respeito, ainda que da outra parte não...
