We found this relatively new restaurant from our gondola guide. It’s off the tourist path and on one of the side canals. It was full of locals enjoying the amazing food. Our server did not speak English, but she couldn’t have been more lovely and fun. We communicated through gestures and facial expressions and we gave hugs when we left. Read moreThis was the best seafood rice I had during my trip to Portugal — incredibly flavorful and fresh. The portion was huge, definitely more than enough for two people.
The restaurant feels very local, with mostly Portuguese families dining there and very few tourists. The staff didn’t speak English, but they were extremely friendly and eager to explain the menu. The menu itself is quite simple, with just a few dishes, but each one comes in a very generous portion.
They served us some fried sardines as a starter — super crispy and delicious.
