We found this relatively new restaurant from our gondola guide. It’s off the tourist path and on one of the side canals. It was full of locals enjoying the amazing food. Our server did not speak English, but she couldn’t have been more lovely and fun. We communicated through gestures and facial expressions and we gave hugs when we left. The fried octopus and Seafood Rice were so delicious and SOOO much food that the 4 of us couldn’t finish it all, which was so disappointing because there Seafood Rice was LOADED with seafood - giant prawns, prawns, mussels, etc. We couldn’t stop talking about how great this meal was, and we had many fabulous meals!

This was the best seafood rice I had during my trip to Portugal — incredibly flavorful and fresh. The portion was huge, definitely more than enough for two people. The restaurant feels very local, with mostly Portuguese families dining there and very few tourists. The staff didn’t speak English, but they were extremely friendly and eager to explain the menu. The menu itself is quite simple, with just a few dishes, but each one comes in a very generous portion. They served us some fried sardines as a starter — super crispy and delicious. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic local dining experience!

Casa Fatima is a restaurant full of locals, as we didn’t book we only just got in at 7.30 when most places are half empty! Everyone except us seemed to know each other but that was a plus it was full of atmosphere, everyone was friendly and the fish cookery was amazing and reasonably priced. I would strongly recommend you book as we almost missed the best meal of our entire two week trip! That includes...
