This is just the BEST restaurant we had in Portugal! If I could give six stars I would. The combination of cheap to reasonable prices, excellent portuguese food and great service + magnificent location makes it the best place to eat in Aveiro! I'm sad not to stay more here so that I could go there again and try other dishes. We had a 3 course meal, a glace of wine and a vintage porto, a bottle of water all that for 27 euros per person. Prices of starters are a bit high but in reality the dishes are big ones which makes it for the price. We had the octopus in vinaigrette and the crocante de alheira which were exceptional. Other starters looked all tempting! Then we took the bacalhau com natas for 2 at just 16 euros. A very good dish, in perfect quantity. We didn't want to have dessert but the waiter brought us all the dessert on a plate for us to see. I took a dessert which was just perfect, a mix of traditional and modern portuguese sweet revisiting ovos moles. Desserts cost 3.5 which is just so cheap for the quality! The wine I had was delicious and from the region, also cheap 4.5 euros for a big glass. The restaurant is in the former ceramic factoty which is an unusual but very trendy place. Entrance is on the right of the building with a big parking, but it is just 10 minutes from Aveiro city centre walking along the canal so I suggest walking there. All in all, I can only recommend you to go there if you want to have a perfect meal eating good portuguese food in a...
Read moreI've visited OLARIA several times, and each experience has been memorable. Most recently, I enjoyed a company lunch there, which reminded me why it’s one of my favorite spots in Aveiro.
Set in a beautifully restored old factory, the atmosphere has a unique charm—spacious, rustic, and full of character. The staff is fantastic; they’re fast, attentive, and always ready to help with a warm smile, making the whole experience even better.
This time, I started with a delicious, hearty soup that was packed with flavor. For the main course, I went with the Portuguese duck rice, which was exceptional—rich, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely satisfying. Though the dessert menu was tempting with its many beautifully presented options, I chose to wrap up my meal with some fresh mango, which was a refreshing and healthy choice to end on a high note.
If you’re in Aveiro and looking for an excellent dining experience with a great mix of traditional flavors and a cozy yet stylish setting, OLARIA is...
Read moreA very nice surprise in fine dining in Aveiro. Excellent food. Professional and friendly staff. My wife and I had the Cod Loin with sauteed vegetables (as the side). We dined with two other couples. All remarked that the food was excellent and a good value. So how much was it? Our bill averaged 52 euros per couple. That included olives/bread to start, two bottles of house white wine (most of us had fish of some kind), bottled water for the table, and dessert. You can spend a lot less depending on your choice of entre. And you can spend much much more :-) The atmosphere is a tad on the loud side, which I think was mostly due to the acoustics of the place rather than loud music or loud guests. There's a dining deck overlooking the...
