This is my first time ever being in Braga, so I wanted to try out some traditional/regional fare here (from Braga and the Minho region, in general) tonight.

It’s also mid-autumn. And that means it’s the typical time of the “matança” (or the annual slaughter of the family hog for food (pork, sausage, bacon, etc., etc.) throughout the winter and into summer of the following year. As with many European countries where this occurs, there is virtually nothing that goes to waste from this process.

So for dinner tonight, I had a small bowl of “Papas de Sarrabulho” as a starter and then “Rojões à Minhota” as my main dish, along with a couple of glasses of their house red (tinto) from the Douro region. I’ll leave you all to look those dishes up if you’re interested. All of it was excellent, but the star of the show was the Papas, which were out of this world delicious!

And for dessert, the most wonderful “Pudim à Abade de Priscos” (pictured) - another special delicacy of this region. If you want to have a feeling for what that’s like, think of the absolutely most delicious Flan or Creme Caramel you’ve ever had, multiply that by about 5 and then add whipped cream with an orange-reduction glacé...

I came here with high expectations but left very disappointed. The service was bad and cold. The owner lacked any sense of welcome and graciousness. A very weird atmosphere. I was overcharged. I expect to be charged what is on the menu. I challenged this. The wine was very overpriced by the glass for what I received. The food was average - I was hoping for better. I work in hospitality - you have to show some interest in your customers. I could not recommend here. Sorry. It took me 45 mins to get a glass of wine. You don’t bring a glass of wine to the table you pour it at the table so the customer knows what you are pouring. You don’t invite the customer to taste from an already poured glass. Fundamental Error. (If you look at all my other reviews you will see I am a...

It's my first time to leave a message, Cuz I wish there will be no more tourist be cheated. In this restaurant, Dishes Don't look Like photos on the menu. re-heated and super dry food.Really disgusting!

Small quantities and expensive. Waiter pushed people to order their "special dish". Most of the dishes weren't available which means choices are not many (maybe only 7) African young girl in the kitchen as a "traditional cook"?! The environment is good, they might changed of chef...

Delicious food served by a family business with strong ties to the traditional and most regional foods providing with amazing taste and curious flavours. However, the prices aren't really clear or anyway explained correctly and your receipt will arrive on a rather shadowy handwritten.

I had dinner here. It's a very traditional Portuguese restaurant. I had soup followed by pork cheeks and mashed potato for dessert I had lime cheesecake. It's very high quality food. The service is very good. It's not cheap but it's worth the money. I highly recommend it.
