Restaurante Casa Antero — Restaurant in Caldas da Rainha

Yesterday we sat at the Casa Antero bar. In 2015 I celebrated my birthday there. And I was there a couple more times. The place is well located. Downtown. Cosy. We were treated very well. We ordered a bottle of wine for two. Another friend was supposed to join us later. We started drinking. The very attentive waiter said that he would take the bottle into the refrigerator and refill our wine. A friend came. The waiter carefully came up with a bottle and refilled our wine. It was nice. And then they brought us the bill. We looked and there was a surprise. We were shortchanged by more than 4 euros. And the bill included a bottle of wine plus two more glasses. He were topped up with wine without warning that our bottle was empty. It was unpleasant. I have lived in Portugal since 2007, but this is the first time this has happened to me. I won't go...

Good food and quick service! When I came around 12:30 on a Friday, almost all of the tables had been reserved for 1 or 1:30. It's clearly a popular spot with the locals! Prices are very good. Paid about €10 for the plate of the day, glass of wine, bread, and sparkling water.

The only minor thing (very minor) is that the back room where I was seating was playing music videos on TV, which was kind of annoying

Good food. Pleasant and friendly staff. Usually full so do try to book in advance. If possible you would want to stay outside in the summer as the room is hot and I'm pretty sure you'll want to stay inside during winter, although I've not been there in the winter. Traditional food with a twist. Well cooked. Not overly priced. Nice selection of starters. You may end up eating just that if you order...
