A bit of a disappointing experience. I took some some English friends to this restaurant that my family recommended for their good service and food. We had bacalhau à lagareiro. A famous portuguese cod dish. The cod fillets were a lottery, varying from needing a bit more cooking to being overcooked; from needing more salt to being too salted. This is one of the know challenges of cooking cod. One that you would expect to be expertly handled at this restaurant. Instead, it felt the dish had been prepared by an inexperienced chef. The politeness and friendliness of the employees and atmosphere would have made up for it, were it not for the comment made between the employees as we were leaving, asking if we had left a decent tip... clearly having forgotten that I was portuguese and was still in earshot. Ultimately it felt we were treated as a non returning group of tourists that did not merit the same level of service as portuguese customers. I for one will look to take visiting friends to a different...
Read moreOrdered two bitoques, one with rice and one with fries. Waited 40 mins to get the food whilst watching other tables that had arrived and ordered after us receive their food. Asked about our order and the reply was “give us 5 minutes we had an issue with our machine” when I clearly saw them chatting away about the unprocessed order. Mistakes happen but at least an apology would have been nice. The food came rushed they brought two portions of fries and the rice I sent one portion back as it was going to be wasted. Taste was average possibly because it was rushed. The restaurant could do a lot better in all areas. Bill came and they charged me for the rice which was a surprise since they forgot our order, gave us portion of fries that was not ordered and on top of that I reminded him whilst taking my payment that they forgot the mixed salad we ordered. He didn’t seem fussed neither did he comment, took our payment and that’s it.
Poor poor service, and they are lucky I didn’t ask for the...
Engano. Veio a comida.
