First of all, their prawn chamuças are to die for. We even asked for a second order. I ordered the camarão panado and it is so delicious! The shrimp is very lightly breaded and perfectly fried. My family ordered matapa camarão and one other shrimp dish but I forgot the name! Regardless, it was all so good. If you like spicy food, ask for their piri-piri. They have a few different kinds but my favorite is the spiciest one. Their sobremesas are also very good. You can’t go wrong with the date cake with cream, bibinca, and any of the ice cream (nougat and chocolate were the options when we went.) All I can say is that you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.

When you come here, they treat you like family. Everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE, including the owner is so friendly and informative. They are great at giving recommendations based on what you tell them your flavor palette is. The servers make you feel “at home.” Everyone that helped us spoke English which gave us a rest from our horrible Portuguese language skills.

We got lucky with parking as we arrived there at 12:30pm right as they opened. However, parking is usually full in this area. Normally, there are a lot of street parking though. I recommend you make a reservation when you go since it is a local favorite… but you can always try your luck and show up unannounced like me. They do their best to accommodate you if they can.

Kaia Kahina made me fall in love with Mozambican food! I highly...

This is just the kind of place we love. You instantly feel welcome as the staff are all incredibly kind and helpful. The walls are decorated with colourful prints which evoke the sights and smells of Africa and the tablecloths add to the atmosphere with interesting brightly coloured African textiles. There's background music but it's kept at just the right level so that you can still have a conversation without having to shout. All great, but it's the food that's the star of the show here - fat, juicy prawns, tender chicken, crispy samosas with spicy fillings and curries that taste really rich and satisfying. We didn't try any of the desserts as the portions here are generous and we couldn't eat another thing but they certainly...

Delicious food and great staff We enjoyed this place a lot, and will definitely return. The staff are super friendly and really professional; they were happy to explain all about the dishes which were the tastiest shrimp we’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection! We tried the main shrimp curry and crispy fried shrimp for our young child which was a hit. Also the chicken curry is very tender and very aromatic. Awesome chilli pastes for dipping. Cosy, relaxed atmosphere with some beautiful Moçambique decor throughout. Very good...

A small and cosy environment with absolutely superb food and great personal touch from the owner and staff. Real seafood with generous portions and great amount of seafood in each dish. Prawn samosas were excellent, the crab curry was unbelievably good, with karge chunky frab pieces, the prawn xeq xeq very much worth trying, and date cake and bebinca highlights on the Desserts menu. Service super friendly and personal. Felt like eating in the extention of someone's home. One of the easiest 5 stars I have given in a while

Kaia Kahina impresses with its modest exterior, concealing a vibrant, bustling interior. The place is renowned for its exceptional food, offering well-balanced, spicy, and extra hot options for those seeking adventure. The staff are super friendly and helpful. A standout dish is their prawn samosas, which I'd rank among the top three in Portugal.
