Japones is a hidden gem that begins with a journey up several small and winding sets of stairs, ultimately revealing a stunning outdoor courtyard that sets the tone for the dining experience ahead. As we ventured further, another set of stairs led us into the restaurant itself, where we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of seating options available. Despite arriving without a reservation as a party of five, the staff was incredibly accommodating, securing us a table without any hassle—a rarity in such a popular spot.

We arrived early, and as we settled in, the restaurant gradually filled up, buzzing with the energy of excited diners. By the time we left, Japones was packed, and it was easy to see why. The food was nothing short of exceptional. The fish was incredibly fresh, practically melting in your mouth with each bite. Every dish we tried was a testament to the quality and care that goes into the preparation.

Quero deixar esta crítica sobre o restaurante "Japonês", como nós o escolhemos de acordo com as críticas no Google e fizemos uma viagem de 1 hora só para visitá-lo (e no final sentimo-nos enganados). Qualidade do sushi é média/baixa, não tem sabor nenhum e parece sushi do supermercado. Sangria de ananás tinha gás e por isso dá para perceber que eles usam Sumol de ananás e não usam ingredientes frescos para as bebidas. Design de interior do restaurante também é bastante duvidoso: cadeiras de plástico, mesas velhas - isso não tem nada a ver com o posicionamento que esse restaurante demonstra nas redes sociais. Se o preço fosse 50% mais baixo, poderia perceber a situação, mas quando um restaurante com comida do nível do supermercado cobra preço alto, isso não é admissível. Queria dar 3 estrelas (porque comida não foi horrível, foi aceitável pars nível médio), mas dou 1 estela pela arrogância do staff. Quando o meu marido disse que nós não gostámos da comida, a funcionária que até aquele momento estava sempre sorrir e mostrava aquela simpatia falsa, não disse nada, não perguntou o porque, o que podia ser melhor e etc. Quando saímos, eles nem sequer disseram "adeus", mostrando a sua verdadeira cara e profissionalismo. Ainda bem, porque nunca mais voltamos. P.s. para as pessoas que dizem que isso é "melhor restaurante sushi da região/ou até do país, aconselho visitar pelo menos 1 vez na vida os verdadeiros restaurantes de sushi, por exemplo O restaurante Lago em Europark perto de Ovar. Se calhar os cozinheiros e os donos do "Japonês" também devem de vez em quando visitar os restaurantes de qualidade, para saber que a qualidade da sua comida está abaixo da média e por isso os preços devem corresponder a qualidade que...

The sushi here is of absolutely top quality. The chef uses a great variety of portuguese fish with amazing creativity. The level of service is equally top notch and guests are made to feel very special indeed. There are so many dishes to love that the best really is to try the tasting menu. Honorable mentions for "Pregado e tinta de choco", "Picadinho de carapau" and "Tataki com Miso", but all others really equally amazing. Thank you fo a very special night, I heartily recommend...
